FAQ
What specific training and certifications do your trainers have in horse care and riding?
Our trainers have extensive training and certifications in horse care and riding, including qualifications from the British Horse Society and experience competing in various equestrian disciplines. We also require ongoing training and education for our trainers to ensure they stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and best practices in horse care and training. Can you provide references or testimonials from previous clients?
Absolutely! We have many satisfied clients who have provided us with glowing testimonials about their experiences with our trainers and our training programs. We would be happy to provide references upon request. How do you assess the needs and abilities of the horse and rider before creating a training program?
Before creating a training program, we conduct a thorough assessment of both the horse and rider to determine their needs and abilities. This includes evaluating the horse's temperament, physical condition, and any previous training or health issues, as well as assessing the rider's skill level, experience, and goals. Based on this information, we create a customized training program that is tailored to the specific needs of the horse and rider. What is the average length of time for a horse to complete your training program?
The length of time for a horse to complete our training program varies depending on the horse's starting level of training and the goals of the rider. However, most horses complete our program within six months to a year of consistent training. What measures do you have in place for ensuring the safety and well-being of the horses during training sessions?
We take the safety and well-being of our horses very seriously. Our facilities are designed with horse safety in mind, with sturdy fencing, well-maintained arenas and trails, and proper ventilation and lighting in our stables. We also have strict protocols in place for handling and caring for our horses, including regular veterinary check-ups, proper feeding and exercise, and ongoing monitoring of their health and behavior during training sessions. Additionally, all of our trainers are experienced and knowledgeable in horse care and safety, and we require strict adherence to our safety policies and procedures at all times.Reviews

I stayed at old shawls farm in their frontier cabin. The cabin is absolutely perfect and very reminiscent of my cabin back in Canada. We really felt right at home. Such a lovely place to unwind and connect with nature. Sue is a fantastic host who is very kind and very accomodating. Lovely to sit on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee, watching the donkeys play with each other while the sun is rising and the birds are chirping. Beautifully quiet with stunning views. The location is ideal for exploring both England and Wales with mountains right on your doorstep. I definitely plan to return to Frontier Cabin annually.

Had such a relaxing weekend. It was lovely and quiet and, once the fire's going, nice and cosy.

Had the most fabulous long weekend at Shawls Farm staying the their Dreamcatcher Shepherds Hut. Positioned on a hillside backed onto woods with stunning views across the valley to Cats Back it's easy to forget the rest of the world exists. The hut was cosy and well fitted out with all you needed. We enjoyed the wood fired hot tub, cooking on an open fire and horses and donkeys on your doorstep. It's idyllic. Two great pubs nearby The Bulls Head at Craswall selling amazing local produce with a great beer garden with views and The Bridge at Michaelchurch Escley with really good wood fired pizzas overlooking a stream. There is so much to see and do locally that we barely touched on it. Our hosts were just lovely, along with the resident donkeys. Will definitely be coming back again.
