Booked here for a meal 18/02/23. This is a very traditional North Yorkshire pub and something of a rare gem. A super welcome from Kevin the landlord (owner) and his bar staff sets the tone and vibe for this pub, very attentive and the feeling that nothing is too much trouble; the open fire adds to the sense of welcome and tradition. A great selection of beers etc are on offer given the compact size and then a good gastro style menu, which is not over complicated, provides for a very tempting list of dishes - starters, mains and puddings plus the specials of the day, today included lamb shank. The food does not disappoint. Yorkshire portions with the quality of a good class restaurant are the result. Kevin is an energetic and passionate landlord who is uber keen to offer excellent value to his customers, at prices that are affordable to more people. There is no skimping on any aspect of the menu or service that comes with it. The three of us thoroughly enjoyed the whole pub and grub experience here, having good banter with the landlord, exactly as it should be. Even if you just want to come in for a pint, the welcome and engagement is exactly the same. We have found our new favourite local pub and will become regular customers. Sunday lunch will be our next venture. Highly commended and deserving of the great reviews already given for this venue.

I had Sunday dinner with the inlaws. The food was very good, med- slightly higher price range. However the food, taste, presentation and service from staff and surroundings were really good. A Olde world pub over 500 years old. In a nice village. The pub was very clean, decor was trendy and in keeping with age if the pub. Staff were welcoming and the atmosphere was friendly within the pub. Which is important
