On a variable rate, moved despite being more expensive than my providers at the time (EOn) cos I just want a no-contact, no-issue service. However, Octopus has changed its stripes. I'm on a variable rate so I take readings get a bill & pay immediately or within days at most. March was different cos even though my routine was the same and I paid an instant £260 (4th April) for the bill and was in credit of £4.32; for the 1st time since I rejoined a direct debit of £92.18 came out of my account for Octopus on 13th April. That was especially dangerous cos I checked my account balance by chance to make sure there's enough credit for my other debits and alas Octopus had taken money and I could've defaulted on other payments if I checked a moment later. I emailed Octopus on 13th April to ask why that had happened, highlighted the possible negative impact it could've had and requested a refund of my £92.18. No response. Sent another email on 18th April, no response. Present day, still no response. I immediately cancelled my direct debit cos I have limited funds, I can't afford to pay twice for one bill and risk a failed debit for another. I got an email from Octopus telling me my energy will cost me more without direct debit. What you don't know is I'll rather pay more than have you thieves running around my account debiting me a 2nd time. It's funny how I'm reading a lot of reviews about quick responses & mentioning employees; has to be fake and by the company because if you go to other sites like Google reviews, you'll get a true picture. A beneficiary of the energy crises growing fat on the hardship in the land; there's time for everything.

The times when they were amazing are long gone. It seems that now, when they acquired a huge client base, they just turned "normal", like anybody else, ignoring your requests or playing dumb... I've been waiting for a solution for almost 2 months now: they just keep repeating the same questions/requests and refuse to send an engineer to fix the issue. I was listening to my daughter's conversation with Octopus regarding them increasing her Direct Debit although there was an agreement already in place. The lady spoke poor English and struggled to understand the issue. 15 minutes later and it still wasn't resolved. This has prompted me to look at their reviews, Trust Pilot is glowing in its praise yet it is strange how some other review sites are less than impressed with Octopus. I also notice that there are 5* review for many employees who have sorted out issues, surely having an issue is a sign that Octopus has failed in some way? I have been with So Energy for many years and have never had the need to ring them. To me that's a good company.

Struggling to word this without using swear words... We bought a property served by Octopus and switched to another supplier within 6 weeks. They are charging us over £500 for gas and electricity in that time and we have not been using a lot. The Boiler frequently lost pressure in fact, so often the heating was off. All I can say is Avoid like the plague.

Absolutely awful service. They don't reply to emails in a day or in fact at all. Sent several emails now all with no response. Disgusting they treat their customers this way. If you didn't pay them, they'd certainly be in touch then.
