I recently had face lift surgery and I am very happy with the results. Mr Nicholas W Williams performed this operation for me and the service I received from start to finish was second to none. I would highly recommend this Consultant and his team, they were all professional and friendly. I am a very Happy customer. Thank you all at Nuffield Hospital.

Depending on the doctor you can have a really good experience here. The glaring problem with Nuffield is their appalling lack of customer service. Particularly the organisational side of Pathology Direct is extremely challenging to deal with: unresponsive via e-mail, phone answering machine referring back to e-mail and website, the latest thing is that they now want to force you to pay through their online system BEFORE even offering an appointment, and they have this “take it or leave it, nobody cares” attitude about it!

If you need physiotherapy, please go somewhere else. I had two appointments with two different people there, and they spent all the time of my appointments talking about my anxiety and making me feel crazy without even visiting me. After the second time, I was so annoyed that I decided to change to another center in Newcastle. Best decision in my life, I had my hands on therapy and felt much better because it was what I needed.

On 7th September, I had a full knee replacement done by Mr Singisetti. My whole experience of this was brilliant, the kindness and friendliness from all the staff, consultant, anaesthetists, nurses, porters and kitchen staff all very willing to help. After care was amazing too from physiotherapists.

I went to Dr. Figueiredo for a rare and debilitating condition called corneal neuralgia. My appointment was on Sept 26th and today is November 13th and I have not received a medical report, referrals to other doctors as promised, a reading of my recent scans, or filling of prescriptions that are imperative to my daily pain management. 7 weeks and not even one ounce of help or care. I paid privately (£150) and I travelled from Manchester (£100 train). I have emailed his assistant Penny over a dozen times to just get a “we’ll get back to you” response. But they don’t. I have had to move onto someone else’s care despite there only being a few doctors in the country that treat the condition. Overall a very disappointing experience. Others I have spoken to have said the same.

DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION I recently accompanied my mother-in-law to a pre-op assessment. She is a wheelchair user and can only walk a few steps with the aid of crutches. Part of the assessment was weight & height measurement, which was done on a 2-in-1 device. As she stepped onto the scales they tipped forwards so she was very uneasy about standing on the scales, especially when her crutches were removed. Consequently she did not have the confidence to stand up fully. I asked repeatedly whether they could not have her height measured whilst she was standing on solid ground rather than on the scales and was told the only facility was on the other side of the hospital, so no! As a result, her height was recorded as 8cm less than recorded at the Freeman Hospital earlier this year, meaning her BMI was calculated as too high for the operation to take place at the Nuffield (her correct height/weight is within their stated BMI limit of 40). Surely a hospital should be able to accurately measure patients without causing them pain and embarrassment. My mother-in-law is registered disabled and absolutely no reasonable adjustments were made. Staff also lacked care and empathy. The staff even claimed later that she has a curvature of the spine, which is definitely not the case.
