    I have been a member since it opened and have never seen such dissatisfaction amongst members which is almost entirely due to the spa area. My wife and I and many others enjoyed using the spa as a treat after a workout and have got to know many other members using it. I’m suffering from a knee injury and would have really liked to have used it. At my last visit the steam room and poolside shower were out of action, the sauna window was grubby and the closed spa looks a disgrace. We and many others have regularly feed back to management and completed questionnaires. Management have made their mind up and won’t listen. I’m so cross every time I walk past the “we value your feedback “ poster. There has been no attempt to make it accessible in peak hours or turn down the temperature. I’m wondering the added value of the membership in comparison with my local council run gym. . I have really enjoyed the classes over the years but the experience after is very poor. I wanted to have the spa facilities nearby not at Barbican which is not at all convenient for me. I can’t see the rationale in allowing the Barbican spa to remain open and not ours.I hope management can find something me time to come to the Islington Gym and actually speak to members to confirm the above and then change their minds. It’s such a shame and feel so sorry for the wonderful staff their who hear our constant moaning

    Only joined at the end of February, left my Air pods pros out in the women’s changing room whist I went to use the toilet, came back to one air pod. Wouldn’t recommend one of the cleaners that work there has stolen. Wouldn’t expect this type of thing to happen at this gym. I’ve been told there’s there nothing they can do about even though only 2 staff were on duty at the time.

    I bought a 20£ day pass and was denied entry. They claim you need a passport to enter on top of your 20£ daily pass however after providing a pic of passport (despite calling the day before) I was still not provided access to the 20£ daily pass paid for. I felt racial profiled and left the place feeling horrible.I was sent there as a secret shopper and will not be promoting this location in any manner.

    I've been a member for quite a few years now. They've implemented some appalling cost-cutting measures such as closing the jacuzzi or turning down the ventilation in the gym floor. I used the jacuzzi to cool off after working out and this has had a big impact on my routine. Emailed management and didn't get a response, this is just unacceptable giving they show off on panels they have a promise to listen to members and act. Ah I forgot the usual towel shortage, you have to bring your own towel to avoid disappointment! The staff is in general nice.

    Would have given this place a 5star! If it hadn't of been for one recent issue. I regularly pay via hussle £25 to use the pool, steam,sauna and hydro pool/ jaccuzi & my recent visit i used my voucher and entered and was not told the jaccuzi was turned off... This is the main reason I pay and visit. I would have not had a problem if broken or being maintained and closed but I was greeted with a sign that says the rising costs will make the running more unaffordable and it will be off till post winter! Shocking and I'm afraid I won't be back till then.

    To prefix my review, I review this as 4 purely because the gym facilities can be better elsewhere but the actual reason for my review is Joy Curati the swim instructor and personal trainer. I could not rate her highly enough. A full 10/10. I started seeing Joy as a non swimmer 2 months ago and my progression has astounded me. I am now proficient in 3 styles and my fitness has never been better. I did 10 hour long lessons and did between 2-4 lessons a week some weeks as I wanted to improve quickly and benefit from the prior lessons as soon as possible and this worked well for me. Joys training style is great. She pays really close attention to how you learn and she then trains you in a rather bespoke way. I feel like she pushes me but doesn’t at all make me do anything that would make me nervous in the water. If you want to learn to swim as an adult either from scratch or improve your swim style and capabilities, Joy would be an incredibly solid shout as a trainer. Plus I’ve heard she is incredible to watch swimming. Haven’t seen it myself yet. Finally, I would add she is a lovely person and a joy to spend the hour with. I’ve really enjoyed the process. Thanks Joy! Looking forward to the next set of lessons and building on the skills you’ve taught me. Also, special shout out to Tracy who is at reception. What a lovely woman. Always remembers your name and so helpful and nice. Nuffield as a group is very lucky to have them both! Jade

    Called 3 times and unable to connect over the phone; took me 30 mins to go in only to tell me my membership linked to another branch can’t be permitted in this gym - £10 extra for visiting. Unhelpful and unfriendly staff
