I have to say that my experience here is second to none. From the initial consultation right thru to surgery was very proffessional. All the staff were lovely, so caring and informative. They go the extra mile to make you feel at ease and cared for. Definitely recommend

2021 had surgery at the Winfield. They were exceptional from start to finish. A separate health issue arises and I’m given the option, by my health insurer, of local private hospitals. Timing being a constraint I opted for the quickest turn around, The Nuffield. Kind of wish I had read the reviews before making a choice. Cancelled or last minute appointment changes for a busy Mum of 3 isn’t easy, lack of communication, contact (great at promising) but never happened unless chased. Information sharing, follow ups and correspondence from the consultant is slow. Information is vague. Ladies at the front desk are unwelcoming and abrupt. Returned a call following a missed call (from Nuffield) and as I didn’t know the name of the person that left the voicemail, I was told ‘if it’s important I’m sure they’ll call back’. No offer to find out who called or get me through to the right department. Turns out it was fairly important, due to a complication my surgery was cancelled. Was given the wrong info and there was no discussion of resolution or plan going forward. After several phone calls, emails chasing and help from the consultant’s PA a plan was put in place. Pre op assessment has been somewhat traumatic on both occasions. Bombarded with questions, medical jargon and what annoys me the most…little opportunity to respond/explain and feeling judged. Appreciate nursing staff are knowledgeable and skilled, probably heard it all before but some empathy and tact, through what is already a complicated situation, would have been nice. I understand places are understaffed, work load isn’t easy. Waiting lists are longer due to covid and NHS overflow. Everyone in Health & social care is feeling the effects. But paying for a service that is inadequate, if I’m honest, has been somewhat traumatising, really isn’t great. Surgery should take place early Feb. Filled with a little dread 😞

I chose the Nuffield based on previous positive experiences. Sadly, this recent visit, was not positive. My initial consultation was encouraging. During this meeting I provided the consultant a CD with relevant images to assist with diagnosis. I waited 6 weeks for the prescribed injection under ultrasound. Unfortunately this treatment was unsuccessful. This wasn't the issue though. During that 6 week period the CD containing my personal data was misplaced, with blame being passed from one department to another. The secretary involved was somewhat abrupt in written communications. The images were eventually found following 2 visits, several phone call and emails on my part. All hassle and time for me. A 7 minute follow-up call involved me reporting that the injection hadn't helped and saw me being referred to an external bike fit specialist cost £110. This was on top of the initial fee. I did not feel like the service I received was in-line with the fee I paid.

Visited the Imaging department today for an MRI, I’ve previously been to Wroughton BMI healthcare. The difference between the service I received from Nuffield and BMI was crazy! Nuffield is the best private hospital I’ve ever been to. Very fancy inside, every single staff member went above and beyond! Especially the staff in the imaging department, I didn’t get the names of them but one was male (baldish and glasses) and the other was female(young foreign lady)… we need more people like them in this world. Very friendly, talkative and just generally happy people and don’t mind going that extra mile! I’ve previously been to the Nuffield for a Sigmoidoscopy and again, the service was outstanding. Every nurse, doctor and everyone that dealt with me went above and beyond! Haven’t got one bad thing to say about anything or anyone! Very professional. My regular consultant is Dr Di Mambro, who is a Gastroenterologist which specialise in stomach issues. If anyone is umming and arrring who to go to, my recommendation will be Di Mambro, 1000x over. Outstanding at her job and genuinely cares about her patients, takes in all symptoms and listens.

Had many visits now including a surgical procedure and from the first time i entered the hospital 5 years ago to my most recent procedure i have nothing but positive words. Consultants and outpatient staff are all fantastic and will always go the extra mile. Would recommend.

The experience is horrific for a private hospital. Bad customer service and unreliable consultants. I can expect much better service from underpaid NHS. Will not be going back. Nuffield Cheltenham.
