We were here recently to celebrate getting married. We stayed one night in an attic room which was perfect for a short stay. Characterful and cosy. If you were planning on staying for an extended period though (or wanted a king size bed), I’d consider one of the other rooms. The facilities at the spa were excellent and left us feeling truly relaxed after the wedding. In addition, the staff were lovely and the complimentary bottle of Prosecco that we received to congratulate us on our wedding was much appreciated.

My sister and I just came back from a girly spa weekend at Buxton Ensana. First of all, the website is poorly designed and so difficult to navigate (find a menu, spa menu, make a booking).. Second of all- there is no onsite parking! You would think that paying such money for one night, parking would be included. They offered a valeted parking for £25per night or park for free on nearby streets (impossible to find any spot). Thirdly - the entrance is pretty much invisible! Tiny sign is not enough. Customer service is very poor. We were greeted by a female who struggled to even make an eye contact! They are very understaffed, staff struggles to make any kind of contact or have a social interaction which, once again, is very strange. Spa facilities were decent, but my treatment room was fully lit, with a massive window and no blinds in place. This significantly impacted my experience during the bespoke massage. I've never had a massage in a bright room! No music, no scents and bright light. Did not feel relaxing at all!! On top of it, the massage bed (room 4 I believe) that was wobbling side to side with every stroke... Massive disappointment!! Fire alarm going up 3 times after 11pm was yet another experience.. with minimal to no explanation to worried and annoyed customers, whilst staff was busy talking on the phone instead of reassuring those gathered in the reception. Morning staff had no handover so they're were surprised to hear what happened, total joke. Our room was beautiful, spacious and clean with a gorgeous bathroom. The mattress was so extremely soft and dipped in the middle, very disappointing. Beautiful decor throughout. Morning staff struggling to manage a few tables at breakfast, which was disappointing to see. Breakfast was nice. We didn't dine in the hotel otherwise, so cannot comment on other food. Lastly, the noise outside caused by the staff of neighbouring restaurants was ridiculous...ear plugs is w must. Overall, beautiful hotel with a massive potential, but no personal touch and poor service was a letdown.

This was my third stay and have visited twice also for afternoon tea. I booked the stay for my daughter's birthday and booked two bespoke massages on the portal at £40 each and received a portal confirmation advising they had been approved however on checkout I was give a bill for two bespoke massages at £50 each. I queried this with the receptionist who advised the spa prices had gone up.I advised the receptionist that this was not communicated before the visit when the prices had increased , at check in or at the massage. The receptionist advised she did not know what to do and it was only because I complained that this was misleading and that the price booked and approved at needed to be honoured that she called the Spa.After speaking to them she advised the prices would be £50 each I advised this is not what I would expect of a 5 star hotel and spa and that it was not right I was having to have this conversation in front of my daughter when the stay and massage was for her birthday.I advised I would not pay the extra increase , due to this the receptionist called the Spa back and advised that I had the evidence and it was on the portal as approved at £40 each that they agreed to honour the price. Having worked as an Assistant Manager in retail I would not expect my customers to order something and when they come to receive it try and charge them an increased price so sent an email to Jonathan the General Manager to make him aware of this as if they are misleading customers on prices they could potentially have complaints to Trading Standards, however I have had no response to my email and have called twice but have not had a call back.Having looked at the reviews it seems they only like to respond if they aren't complaints and if a complaint either the put a standard response or no response at all. What Jonathan needs to understand is that even 5 star hotels get complaints and good customer service is to deal with them and not ignore them and I was trying to flag it as someone could take it further and could effect the hotel and Spa reputation and 5 star rating as well as the Spa chance in finalist of best Spa competition . My advice to all customers is that you check the prices when booking extras so that you don't have any surprises as really the hotel and spa are not interested in the customer and ones that ha stayed more than once.5 star surroundings and food but not a 5 star service.

A totally delightful experience. We stayed 3 nights, enjoyed multiple spa treatments and dined in the restaurant for breakfast and evening meal. I cannot imagine a more enjoyable place to stay. Buxton is lovely, top Peak District attractions accessible by enjoyable short and scenic drives. I really hope we get an opportunity to return. The hospitality is first rate. Thoroughly recommended. Rooms: Very comfortable beds and in room amenities.

booked 1 night stay and in particular a disabled accessible room. The room was excellent - all expected facilities present. Wet room well organised with numerous supporting rails. Extra wide doors to room and bathroom with good bed height. However, I would urge anyone reliant on use of a wheelchair to avoid this hotel as getting to your room requires passing though at least one narrow corridor door which necessitates getting out of your chair. No immediate ramp access to main entrance and indeed any wheelchair access must be around the side of the building from main road which involves uneven paving slabs. No power assist to opening of main entrance heavy glass door. Finally, car parking is not included in the price of this hotel with cost on arrival of a further £25 per night.

My Daughter treated me for my 60th. Fantastic thermal pool. Didn't realise it was formally a Catholic pilgrimage site, dedicated to St Anne Mother of Our Lady (Mary) because of the miraculous healing powers of the water. I went in suffering from pain in my back and neck due to Osteoarthritis and I came out pain free. Rooms : 5/5 | Service : 5/5 | Location : 5/5 Hotel highlights Quiet … More
