I’ve waited for a month or so before leaving my review. I had a suspected transmission problem on my VW Golf, firstly I’d taken it to 4 other places first just to try to identify the problem, sometimes waiting a week for them just to take it for a drive to diagnose the issue which they couldn’t. Without an appointment I visited NW Transmissions on a Monday morning, Spoke to Ronnie, really friendly approachable, it’s a real family business. Ronnie immediately suggested we go for a test drive, was honest with his appraisal and gave me a price to fix it. 4 days later I collected the car after I had a new bearings and seals kit fitted to the gearbox. The price was as quoted. NOTE: Gearbox repairs are a specialised skill and most garages won’t touch it so they’re going to be a bit pricey anywhere compared to other types of repair. But after driving the car it clear to see what you’ve paid for, the car felt different, gear selection was deliberate and secure, acceleration and steering was revitalised. I’ve used the car for a month now and no issues. NW Transmissions did a great job, honest and on time. A genuine family run local business and easy to approach for an initial honest opinion. I wouldn’t hesitate going back with a similar issue in the future. Service: Transmission

Our van is 18yrs old and we have always looked after her as best we can. Unfortunately when Monty (the van) went in for service to our local garage, Derek Roberts( Wirral autos) advised us we may need a new gear box 😬 Derek recommended Northwest Transmissions. Monty could not have gone to a better place Ron, Dawn and their mechanics did a fantastic job. A new gearbox and clutch where fitted along with a couple of front wheel bearings. A few days later I found we had a diesel leak and although this had nothing to do with the job that had been done, the guys sorted out a faulty hose that was allowing air into the wrong place.
