I was asked by a mate if I fancied coming with him on on a canal barge for a long weekend as his partner could not make it. We were asked if we wanted a slightly larger boat free of charge as was available so took it out instead slightly nervous as it was bigger. The boat was amazing inside and out perfect and really well built and maintained. On the doorstep is some amazing countryside and The Foxton Locks plus just round the corner the tunnel which was quite scary first time but by the end of the weekend we got the hang of it all! The lock keepers at the Foxton Locks are fantastic so please don't be put off by the scary nature of 10 locks in 150m distance to navigate 3x2 storey houses in height! They were utterly brilliant all volunteers from the Canal Trust. Back to the boat we bought far too much stuff as thought would be more basic had towels, bedding, all cooking equipment literally nothing needed to be bought except food, beer and clothes! Will defo do this again and the staff were all really helpful and friendly considering we were canal boat virgins at the start. Highly recommend give it a try!

Hired a narrow boat from the wharf for a long weekend. Really lovely. Comfortable for 4 adults. Fully equipped. First boat I have hired with two TVs and internet router that worked off a mobile network. I have hired many narrow boats over the years. There is always a compromise between space and facilities. This boat really kept those compromises to the absolute minimum. Would absolutely recommend for a short break or longer. As for the Canal, it was entirely rural and quiet along the route on the summit pound to Foxton, then Crick and finally up the Welford Branch. The fireworks for us was the Foxton flight of two - five lock staircase. What a masterpiece of 18th Century engineering. An absolute must see.

Had a canal boat trip from here, John is a good chap. Boat was great,the Lady Sienna, spacious for us three. Had such a great time, we will def be trying it again, so calming.
