Rang Beverley police a week ago regarding verbal aggression by a male neighbour towards myself and my 4 yr old granddaughter. The officer minimised my concern and distress, didn’t ask for the name or address of the man concerned, nor whether he had ever done this before. His only intervention was to tell me that I must not tell the child’s parents what had happened. Clear message that if you’re a woman or child being abused by a man you just have to put up with it and not bother the police. I am interested to know whether this approach is Humberside Police policy or simply one misogynistic officer. Will continue to ring them if the man does it again though, am not prepared to accept being abused by the bully in my street or dismissed by those who purport to serve and protect us.

Had multiple letters through my door about the humberside police wanting to bring me down to court for a crime i had no involvement in. After trying to contact them about how the person in question was not me and that it must have been a different person, they kept telling me that it wasn't their issue and that i had to contact the court magistrate. I am one who likes to stand up for the police but it took 1 year of me trying to contact them before they even decided to try and resolve the issue. Once i eventually was contacted back by the humberside police department they told me that the investigator was the only person who could clear this situation up, i tried to contact the investigator to no luck as whenever i attempted to contact them they were suddenly on a holiday. it came to the week before the actual person they wanted was due in court and the investigator was still going to be on holiday until after the court date (this makes no sense as the investigator would need to be in court at the time very unprofessional.) so i got in contact with somebody above them where after investigating what had happened they were suddenly telling me that "oops, looks like it's a different Travis Taylor you're not even from grimsby sorry" and after a full year of stress and waiting to have to drive through many different town just to reach hull/grimsby it's because they refused to even look into the issue which could have been resolved on day 1 of me reporting this issue to them. I had another officer round at my home recently for a separate issue who even told me that the police in hull/grimsby aren't up to scratch but i guess he's right as my experience in trying to help them find the correct person ended up with me doing more than them to sort the issue out.
