FAQ
What is the student-to-teacher ratio at your nursery school?
At Newpark Childcare Centre, we maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio to ensure personalized attention and quality education. Our ratio is typically one teacher to four children for under-twos and one teacher to eight children for over-twos.What is your policy regarding sick children and medication administration?
We have strict policies in place to prevent the spread of illness among our students and staff. If a child is sick, they must stay home until they have fully recovered. We do not administer medication unless it has been prescribed by a doctor and the appropriate forms have been completed by the parents. What is the daily schedule like for students at your nursery school?
Our daily schedule is designed to provide a balance of learning, play, and rest for our students. We follow the Montessori approach, which emphasizes self-directed learning and exploration. Our schedule includes activities such as circle time, outdoor play, snack time, and individual work time. How do you assess student progress and provide feedback to parents?
We use a variety of methods to assess student progress, including observation, documentation, and formal assessments. We provide regular feedback to parents through progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, and daily communication through our communication app. What is your approach to discipline and classroom management in the Montessori environment?
In the Montessori environment, we focus on positive discipline and encourage children to develop self-discipline and self-regulation. We provide clear boundaries and expectations, and redirect children towards positive behaviors when needed. Our teachers use positive reinforcement and encouragement to promote a peaceful and respectful classroom environment.Reviews

Our daughter attended Newpark in the Barbican at age 2 for 10 months and had a wonderful experience. We only removed her because we left London, otherwise she would have stayed until age 4. The staff are professional, courteous and very caring with the children. The Montessori principles they follow have been great for our daughter's development and the children get plenty of outside time (despite there not being an outside space at the nursery). If anything, their outside time is more varied as they do daily trips (weather-permitting) to the Barbican gardens, playground, library, museum, etc. rather than always in the same space. 100% recommend. Thank you team!

Both our children went to Newpark and we couldn’t be happier with their experience. They (and we) developed close connections to the staff - who are wonderful and caring and always kept us up to date with their development. The staff guided our children through many milestones including potty training, the birth of our second child and moving. The environment is unique- despite the nursery being a small physical space itself, the children use the surrounding barbican gardens and center. Both our children also loved the exposure to outside activities - most notably drama and gardening. Also the food is excellent and I never worried if the children would eat well or be offered something yummy and nutritious. I would unreservedly recommend Newpark barbican to any parent.

"Outstanding" really doesn't do this nursery justice. It sits in a category of its own. Our son went to other "outstanding" nurseries before this one and none comes close to Newpark Barbican. Our son has SEN and the staff went above and beyond any expectations we had. They also supported us through EHCP process. The staff is the key asset of this nursery - the first in charge is a particular star in our hearts! They don’t have an outside space but they systematically go out every day, whatever the weather, which is not the case of most nurseries. We unfortunately moved out of the area but I would recommend this place to any parent without hesitation.

My daughter attended the nursery for a year and we couldn't be happier. The staff there really care about the well being of the children and babies and love them so much. Things that stood out was the amount of information that we received daily, the amazing food and the happiness and warmth that we saw our daughter have.

Our son spent three happy years at Newpark Barbican, and I can't recommend them enough. The "outstanding" The main thing that makes this nursery is the staff, who are amazing. It's much more than just a "childcare setting", they were a big part of our son's early years, and also really helped and guided us through all the challenging times (e.g. weaning, potty training). It's a small nursery and it's mixed age, which works amazingly for both the younger kids, who look up to their older friends and older ones who help with the younger ones, including babies. The Ofstead report gives a good independent summary, which is very much consistent with our experience.

We had two children at Barbican Newpark and they couldn't be happier and had a better start in life. It was by far the best nursery childcare we came across. The staff are all wonderful people. We were privileged to have had this experience.
