We provided the food for a 50th and got caught in heavy rain. We were then kindly offered to use the barn for cover. All in all a good and relatively dry afternoon. A lovely farm.

We stayed in Black cottage which is an ideal base for exploring the various nearby attractions. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. The cottage itself is quaint and somewhat rustic, perhaps too rustic for some tastes! Nevertheless, it is well equipped and quite spacious. The top attraction of this cottage are the numerous wonderful walks straight from the doorstep along fields and through woods. One takes you all across country to the Black Horse in Nuthurst, about an hour walk. The Wheatsheaf in Plummers Plain has an enchanting pergola for outdoor dining and we enjoyed good food at the Hare & Hounds in Cowfold and the Red Lion in Handcross; all are dog friendly.
