Was originally supporting the rail strikes until I had the misfortune of thinking the staff were there to help! While waiting for the 2 ladies to stop their conversation they just pointed to the machine even tho I had a question! And when I insisted on asking the question she said 'I think the machine does that, just go and try' brilliant! I am all for it going totally automated if that's the help on offer! Way to go to show they are worth the support!

Currently extensive redevelopment within station neighbourhood with new multistorey station car park! Once completed there should be many improvements with much better integration with Downtown Newbury!

Used this station on a return from a weekend away and when the easing of restrictions after the Covid lockdown Has 3 platforms Trains run by Great Western Railway Lifts and new footbridge Ticket barriers may be used at some times when staff are available Tickets already purchased to save on too many interactions Wearing of face coverings is currently mandatory unless you are under 11 or have a medical exemption (a pain but if it helps to a speedier return to normal life then carry on and be a good travellor!!)
