Been here twice now with a group of friends. They're so welcoming here and happy to help with any requests. The facilities are fantastic and very clean. Showers are warm with no extra payment necessary (e.g. don't need to put £1 in to activate it). Firewood is readily available to buy and wheelbarrows are everywhere to help you carry stuff like firewood to your tent or belongings to and from your car. The itself site is pretty big, with parking available near every field, and also access points to the river for swimming. I would absolutely recommend staying here and will be doing so again myself.

We hired the ‘River site’ for my 30th and it was a perfect secluded spot for a really special party. The facilities were great and the staff are super helpful.

Well. Ed sidled up to me… in the middle of the night with one of El’s pizzas. Free! ‘Thank you’ I murmured, ‘but WHY?’ I asked, cautiously, you understand, not sure WHAT WAS GOING ON. ‘Listen, mate’ said the proprietor, shining his torch directly into my face, scaring me to be frank. ‘We need at least one good review this season. So, YOU KNOW… do your best!’ It was clear to me that something very unethical was afoot. Nevertheless, I ate half of the excellent margarita and began writing, throwing all sense of morality to the winds. Next thing you know I’ll be signing up for the Russian army. New Wharf is an excellent camp site in the midst of beautiful Sussex countryside (including the South Downs national park). It is fronted by Ed and El (both single syllables and beginning with E. Noted) and their helpful staff. It is quiet (no electronic music allowed, but guitars and flutes OK until 2130, and Radio 4 if played very low THE ENTIRE NIGHT). Wicked hot showers and… wicked… chemical and compost toilets. And on Friday nights El’s pizzas (order early) cooked on a wood fired stove! What more do you want? Pedal carts for the kids and big tyres to swing from attached by ropes to the trees? YES, IT IS ALL HERE! And wild swimming in the river too, though never alone please, re safety. There. Imagine what I would write for a six pack of chilled Guinness. The mind boggles. Oh yes, well behaved dogs welcome, but no orange attire lest you find yourself cleaning the toilets during your stay.

We had a great time staying at the New Wharf Campsite this summer. Ed and Elle were really looking after us, and made our camping with 3 kids (including a baby) super easy, and delightful. It's honestly a great place for outdoorsy people. There are lots of lovely hisorical towns in the area, beautiful landscapes, and a fun river nearby. We'll be coming back for sure :)

What a absolutely stunning camping experience at New Wharf! A gorgeous location, stunning scenery, perfect facilities, exceptional hosts in Ed and Elle, the River Adur (swimming, canoeing & paddleboarding) and, for us anyway, only 12 mins drive from our home in Shoreham! We'll definitely go again and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well run and peaceful campsite. Well done Ed & Elle for creating, and maintaining, an excellent concept. Kudos to both of you!
