Lovely firm to deal with if you want a holiday in the New Forrest. Very friendly and helpful staff. All their properties are of high quality and the property we stayed in was beautifully presented and had amazing views to Hurst Castle and the Isle of Wight beyond. We have returned to the same property twice and will continue to use NFE

After previously booking to stay with New Forest Escapes, we had been reassured on the phone that families traveling from outside the UK during Covid times would be given flexibility and to go ahead and book. So we did, and the stay was enjoyable though one bedroom smelled very damp due to a rotten deck balcony and the window was forbidden from being opened. This seemed to trigger coughing fits in the children sleeping there. Luckily there was another bedroom we could put them in all together and all was fine. Bolstered by our previous booking experience and desperate to get over to see family at Christmas we booked last minute (literally only a few days before the dates we would stay) to stay at Beau Soleil from Christmas Eve through to a few days after Christmas. We hadn't been able to get to the UK the Christmas before due to Covid and New Forest Escapes had previously assured us they would be considerate during Covid (nothing had at this point been said about no refunds if you are caught in a lockdown outside of the UK, this was only mentioned once I had called to see if anything could be done about the booking). So, cheerily we thought, "let's just do it!" and got very excited about coming. Then, the country where we live went into lockdown 1.5 days after booking. We were devastated but told ourselves that we could hopefully just shift our trip to some other dates and not completely lose the money. This didn't seem unfair since we had only just booked, it was a last-minute booking, it was Christmas and Covid. Sadly, we were not given any flexibility. We lost our money and were told New Forest Escapes would contact us. However, 5 months later we are still waiting to hear from them... It is now school holidays in the country we live in, so thought we'd come over to see family in the UK. A couple of days before coming I checked to see if Beau Soleil was available and it was! Great, I thought, perhaps they'd let us stay there at a discount since we lost all of our money to them at Christmas and clearly no-one is staying there during these imminent dates. Sadly, this wasn't the case, they simply responded with the advertised price. The moral of the story is, we live and learn and it would seem that New Forest Escapes though seemingly a friendly family run business have shown their true character. It is a shame as we would love to be able to say we had a great experience with them. This is why we had intentionally waited all this time before giving a review, in order to offer a chance to redeem themselves. They have made no attempt to redeem themselves 😞 As an aside: Other companies we have used during the pandemic have had options of complete money back during Covid or the possibility to pay an additional amount for insurance to cover such eventualities. Standard travel insurances (atleast in the country we live) do not cover booking holiday accomodation abroad during Covid.
