Interesting house lot's to see but not all rooms open due to lack of volunteers. Worth a visit.

As NT Members, we often visit properties to get lunch and then see the house/garden. Very dissatisfied with the menu in the cafe as both the one pot and main course meals were veggie and none of the jacket potato options had any meat. I am fed up with this obsession by the NT for veggie food. We went to Belton House last week near Grantham and the menu is identical. Seriously considering give up my NT Membership.

We visited Upton House on a Tuesday, so it was a lot less crowded than it probably would have been on the weekend. The house is interesting if you like paintings but is certainly not the most interesting building within the National Trust. The gardens are nice but not very extensive so if you want a long walk then probably not Ideal. There are also quite a few steps and significant changes in levels to the front garden leading down to the pond that would be difficult for some elderly and disabled people. Having said all that it is still a lovely location made better by the presence of a nice restaurant/café and shop. The staff and volunteers were lovely as always 😁
