A treasure. There's plenty of scenery to walk around and take in, the house is magnificent and well preserved. Volunteers were helpful. Only downside is the £5 parking charge if you don't have a NT membership.

A very pleasant National Trust property, with a nice house, however, the biomass boiler (shed) is horrendous. If the National Trust causes harm towards the publics health they should also provide appropriate safety mechanisms to reduce the risks. a) the smell is horrendous when visiting and effects ones clothing etc. b) the smoke has horrendous effects on ones health c) there are more effective ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions than biomass d) we should be returning biomass to nature.

We had a great day out at Tyntesfield. It is a really stunning building, set in wonderful grounds. A high point was our tour with guide, Trevor. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the place and his infectious enthusiasm really brought it all to life for us. The other unexpected surprise was the opportunity to see the Red Dress which is on display there right now. Refreshments were great, with well made coffee and home made cakes. The staff throughout were all very friendly and helpful. All in all, a highly recommended visit.

Will never return to Tyntesfield! Despite the grounds and the house being stunning, the attitude of the staff is disgusting. With two dogs and a sign in the cafe asking those with dogs to sit elsewhere, which we did, the cafe having an enormous amount of seats in the non dog section. My dog was still hit on the head by someone because she happened to walk near him. I will never not stand up for my dogs. I spoke to the restaurant manager and asked if they could perhaps make things clearer for dog owners or not, as to where to sit, to avoid anyone becoming upset. The restaurant manager was lovely, understanding, apologized - for something that wasn't his fault and explained that while it may be a dog area it isn't just for dogs. Which is fair enough. What wasn't fair enough was his colleague who accused me of lying and said that my dog wasn't hit and did I want to leave the estate. She had no need to interrupt, the conversation I was having was more than sufficient. I wasn't complaining, I was simply making an observation - make things a little easier to understand. I watched my dog get hit and to be accused of lying was disgusting. As a National Trust member I will never step foot in this property again. Disgusting way to talk to people, especially as at the start, I wasn't making a complaint. I certainly will be now.

Wonderful day out. Good café with indoor and outdoor seating, delicious straightforward food. We had watercress soup, with a hunk of bread and butter. Plenty of dog friendly space for walks in the garden, some areas restricted, but reasonably so. No dogs in the house. Victorian Gothic house with lots to see. Amazing Chapel! Walled kitchen garden. We could see where all the flowers in the house were picked from. More cafes. Good children's play area. Great woodland walks where doga can be off lead. Adventure play areas for children.
