Having grown up in Sevenoaks and enjoyed Knole Park as a child, it was wonderful to have a tour of the house recently. In recent years there has been a huge ongoing conservation project as years of neglect had taken its toll on the fabric of the building as well as many exceptional artifacts. Art, furniture, drapes, all with centuries of history and well-informed guides make this a fascinating place to visit. There is a conservation room which shows the challenges of restoration and a good cafe with tasty food. Free entrance to National Trust members but if you are interested in doing the Attic Tour, tickets cost £7.50 and need to be booked online in advance. Well worth it!
