Hatfield Forest is a special place - an ancient hunting forest, with a long legacy of human activity. It's a beautiful, peaceful place - I'd encourage you to explore out to the less well trod parts of the forest and soak in the atmosphere. There are an active and welcoming volunteer group of coppicers (of which I'm a part) who continue the ancient coppicing traditions - so if you're at all interested in forestry and trees, there's a lot to love here. Also, if you're local and interested in coppicing, come and volunteer! A beautiful place to come for a walk and explore. There's a good range of refreshments up by the Shell House, too (currently being restored)

Ooof, I wanted to park up and stretch my legs, looked like a nice place off the beaten track. £8 parking...no thank you. Of course, worth it if you are there for the day but just a quick stop off? this is something that irritates, there are no nice places to stop anymore, they are there, but you are not allowed to stop there unless you pay a small fortune.
