Visited on a sunny day following this National Trust property’s appearance on TV. Unsurprisingly, so did many others! Consequently, the restaurant was very busy with a long queue. However, in true British style, the visitors were not complaining and the staff were absolutely amazing. Despite a constant stream of customers, they were efficient, polite and smiling. At first, the gardens close to the house seemed a little disappointing with empty beds and planters, however, it became apparent that these were seasonal and it would be worth a revisit later in the year. Once we started to explore we were amazed at the diversity of the themes and planting and how beautifully well tended the gardens are. As other reviewers have commented, there are lots of steps and uneven pathways. This is to be expected in a location of this nature and something to be aware of when considering a visit.

Really enjoyed our visit, beautiful gardens with something new around every corner. Plenty of parking, helpful volunteers and not too crowded at the time of our visit. Had coffee outside on the terrace. You need plenty of time to see everything.
