    Probably one of the most underrated historical visitor attractions in the whole country. Well worth a 2-3 hour visit. Personally I prefer this museum and HMS Trincomalee to visiting HMS Victory in Portsmouth, the Cutty Sark in London, HMS Belfast or the SS Great Britain as it is far less crowded and greater efforts have been made to put the ship into its historical context at Hartlepool than at the other famous ships. The royal Navy theme of the museum tends to focus on the days of sail rather than the navy of the 20th century. Note if you are over 6 foot tall expect to bump your head a few times aboard Tricomalee as there is very little headroom below decks. There is a lift between decks for those who are less mobile.

    One of the best museum visits of this type...excellent Buying tickets at the admission point is an utter pain....name...address...email address....gift aid....I just want to buy a ticket...Also Data protection comes into it...being forced to reveal your personal details in front of a queue of random people is not good.....Food point could be a lot better ....😳Corned Beef sandwiches on sliced white bread...not that great...caterers need to visit some other similar establishments and experience the quality available.
