Local pub with good range of cask beers. Update May 2023 - still going well with a range of local beers. Food is good. Large grassed beer garden which is non smoking. Toilet facilities need radical upgrade and improvement however.

We had a lovely birthday meal at the Myrtle last night. Staff were efficient, food was great, cozy atmosphere, a special, relaxed and fun evening. The sharing plates are really good for those with smaller appetites and help to make it affordable too. Well done Myrtle, we'll be back! Thanks for everything!

Fortunately, it was a warm day, and we were able to sit outside because there was a very unpleasant smell inside the pub that wasn't disguised by the smell of liberally distributed bleach. I wasn't alone in noticing the smell. The staff who brought the drinks outside were very friendly, especially the Canadian server, who was very friendly and a great asset to the pub. Glasses are allowed outside near to the cricket pitch but in the beer garden behind the pub it's plastic only. There is an ugly monstrosity of a covered outdoor area that I was told was erected during Covid restrictions. In a very beautiful area of grass, trees and traditional old housing, it is very conspicuous and should be demolished as a matter of urgency to restore the area to its previous beauty.

Used to love it. Admittedly I've an axe to grind as my 17 year old son went in for what turned out to be 2 'trials' as a kitchen porter. He didn't do well for various reasons, some of which admittedly were down to him, but he was also almost completely ignored and found his colleagues to be incredibly cliquey. The owner has made a success of the pub but at the expense of increasing arrogance - something I've heard from others as well. Not only that, he promised to pay my son but nothing ever materialised so the whole thing was a waste of time. Anyway, the pub will go from strength to strength whatever I say, and the front of house staff are great but we're now giving it a wide berth and will not return.

Great location, but staff rude and snappy when it gets busy - they basically demand you order through the app and when you try to order at the bar they seem really put out: it's a pub, you should be able to order at the bar! Also, food in certain areas only, although this isn't clearly marked and you only find out when you try to order. Little thing but the pints in plastic glasses are never filled to the top, saw a few sent back (to much tutting).

Really good all round pub for drinks and food. Usually different events on, great garden, nice space and appropriate for families, couples, groups and individuals alike.
