Axiomatic Supposition

I have used Tech Tyres a few times now and have always had a decent experience with them. My most recent experience has made me lose faith in this garage. I simply asked whether it would be better for both of us if I bought tyres directly from them rather than through a very well known online platform that lists Tech Tyres as one of its approved fitters. I asked this as I felt it might support the garage, rather than them only taking a percentage. I received a really surprising and patronising lecture about how said online company source cheap tyres from the Brazilian/Russian etc markets and sell them to us here in the UK. I was informed that the premium Yokohama tyres I just had fitted to the rear of the car "won't give me any mileage" and the Bridgestone Potenza tyres Tech Tyres fitted on the front of the car 6 months ago are pretty much worn down completely. These tyres were £180 per tyre. I was completely floored by this statement (made by, I think, the owner of Tech) as I wondered why a UK registered company would affiliate themselves with such an immoral online company! ie. Why would they gladly fit knowingly substandard tyres to customer's cars! The Tech Tyres chap even mentioned how it would be "no good" if I was involved in a "fatal" (he meant fatal road traffic collision) due to the fact I had cheap tyres fitted. He said this to me in front of my 9 year old son who watches enough Traffic Cops to then ask me about the statement. I left the garage feeling a real mug especially given the fact I tend to put premium tyres on my Sports Estate. Have I been ripped off by said online company? I decided to ring the online platform to ask them where they source the tyres. I educated myself on the E Marking system all tyres in the UK are meant to have. I verified MYSELF that the tyres I have were all approved for use in Europe. I have checked the tread depth on my fronts and they have loads left and that is after 10k miles on them, in 2litre turbo front wheel drive car. I have checked the Trustpilot for the online company and there is no mention of anyone being given sub standard or fake tyres. This needless scaremongering belongs in the dark ages: there is too much information out there nowadays to pull the wool over the eyes of customers. I wonder how the online company would react to these defamatory statements? My guess would be not well. I will never use Tech Tyres again and regret recommending it to friends. I have always been really impressed with other members of the Tech Tyre team but found this one particular individual (who may well the owner - who knows) singularly unhelpful.
