My critique is about the Food Pantry within Myatt's Field Centre. I cam as a customer buying food when I received only half of the food I pre-purchased. The pantry staff member L. just decided to give me half after she & her colleague just had a conversation with me after I offered to volunteer. The following week when I was to start, I ws on time but L. was 30 mins late. Upon starting to set up for customers to pick up food, I asked i f I can set aside my bag which I purchased already the week before, and as I was there already since early morning, while L. (paid staff member) was late. A long discussion started on that volunteers get food at the end, which is totally fine, I proceeded to a line manger of L. who also started a long discussion. After I kept repeating that I speak as a CUSTOMER who already paid the week before but was "shortchanged" on food, I am not speaking as a volunteer. Back and forth, I requested a refund, we settled on me collecting the other half of the food I already paid for the previous week, and just having helped out for 30 mins, I left the place and won't be going back as a volunteer. VERY poor treatment of customers and volunteers, including eye rolling behind customers and volunteers' backs. Rare felt so disrespected. They have the wrong people on staff and told me the week before that they're desperate for volunteers. Well, sort out your paid staff and the volunteer situation will fall into place. Appalling behaviour at this food pantry.

Great venue, very helpful staff, great access to kit. I teach a boxing class to pensioners once a month in the hall hete. It is very conveniently located in Vassal, great accessable entrances. There are heaters for when it's cold, Aircon for when it's hot, speakers (sometimes, but not recently) with connections and chairs. Theres a coffee shop next door with good tea and coffee and snacks. If you need a community centre, I'd highly recommend here! Inside a lovely park too.
