Review of Mustang Masala Oakwood Derby I recently had the opportunity to visit Mustang Masala in Derby, and I must say that overall, it was a decent dining experience. However, there was one aspect that fell short of my expectations—the food, which was a bit bland. Starting with the positives, Mustang Masala has a pleasant and inviting ambiance. The restaurant is well-decorated with a fusion of traditional and modern elements, creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, providing prompt service throughout my visit. The menu at Mustang Masala offers a wide range of Indian and Nepalese dishes, providing a variety of options for different tastes. The selection includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, catering to different dietary preferences. I appreciated the diversity of the menu and the opportunity to explore different flavors. However, when it comes to the food itself, I found it to be somewhat lacking in flavor. While the presentation was appealing, the taste fell short of what I expected from a restaurant specializing in Indian and Nepalese cuisine. The spices seemed to be toned down, resulting in dishes that lacked the vibrant and aromatic flavors that are typically associated with this type of cuisine. The lack of depth in the seasoning made the overall experience somewhat underwhelming. That being said, it's worth noting that taste preferences can vary greatly from person to person, and what I found bland might be considered just right by others. It's possible that the kitchen was aiming for a milder flavor profile to accommodate a broader range of palates. However, for those who enjoy bold and robust flavors, the dishes at Mustang Masala might leave them wanting more. In terms of pricing, the menu at Mustang Masala was reasonably priced considering the portion sizes and the quality of ingredients used. The restaurant offers good value for money, especially for those dining in groups or families. In conclusion, while Mustang Masala in Derby offers a pleasant dining experience with its inviting ambiance and friendly service, the food falls short in terms of flavor. The dishes, though well-presented, lack the vibrant and aromatic spices that are expected from Indian and Nepalese cuisine. However, it's important to note that taste preferences can vary, and others might find the milder flavors to their liking. If you're looking for a place with a cozy ambiance and decently priced menu, Mustang Masala is worth considering, but if you're seeking more authentic and flavorful Indian and Nepalese dishes, you might want to explore other options in the area.

Words can’t explain how much myself and my partner enjoy the Mustang Masala. We frequently have both take out and food in the restaurant and have never been disappointed. On top of the fantastic food, the staff are top-tier too. Friendly, attentive and welcoming are all words I’ve used when recommending these guys to friends and family. We have extremely high standards when it comes to Indian cuisine. Having sampled many curries from across the country, the food from the Mustang is right up at the top of the list. Me and my partner are both vegan, which can be difficult when eating out sometimes. Not at the Mustang though, as their vegan food is sensational. I can’t recommend the Mustang Masala enough! Please go and enjoy it as much as we do 🤙

we were visiting the area and decided to try the local indian for dinner , , biggest mistake and such a waste of money , we ordered the chicken korma which was like bright yellow baby food with pieces of pan fried chicken breast no spices at all and I still have no idea what it was made from , being indian I know what a korma is and this was rubbish , ,we bought 2 naan bread a raita and some biryani rice , a couple of drinks and 43pounds later left , when asked how we enjoyed the meal I told the gentleman exactly what I thought in the nicest way and was told that no where in the Uk would I get an authentic Korma, if you claim to be an Indian/nepalese restaurant at least serve authentic food , I was told ‘oh no we do t serve that “!. Needless to say the item was not taken off our bill although it wasnt eaten , go elsewhere for a decent indian meal

The food was incredible, the staff were really friendly & we felt it was fairly good value. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience & we'll definitely order from there again - it certainly lives up to the high standards set by the previous owners. The taste of the food was very refined & had a lot of different flavours - I found myself wanting to lick the plate clean, it was that good! The portion sizes felt a little smaller than we were used to, especially compared to the previous owners, but mainly on the rice & nann - it certainly didn't feel like they skimped on the meat or fish in the mains though. In-fact, my wife commented that for a fish curry, you usually just get a few small flakes, whereas from here she had some very large chunks - very impressed. Dietary restrictions: I've got a milk allergy & they were very accommodating - helpful that the menu had the allergens listed, so I didn't have to ask them for every dish when deciding what to have.

First time here under the new owners. Food and service excellent. We hadn't booked but arrived on a Friday night just before 9pm and were seated straight away. We had popadoms and pickles followed by the Prawn Puri and Garlic Chicken Tikka to start, both presented and tasted fabulous. For mains we had Butter Chicken which was sweet and full of flavour unlike some other places where it can taste like tomato soup! The Chicken Balti was also very tasty and both were accompanied by pilau rice and the best ever tomato and garlic naan. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and attentive, we will be back. Thank you.
