Update: The team at Mount St. reached out after our initial negative experience and asked us if we'd be willing to give the restaurant another try as they were working hard to improve the service. My wife and I agreed to give it another chance, and I am happy to say that they were true to their word. The food and ambience were great and the service was much improved. Credit to the Mount St. for taking feedback on board and trying to do better. They have certainly turned my opinion around for the better! ******************** Original review: I had read great reviews so I came here for my wife's birthday with high expectations. The decor, artwork and atmosphere was great but the food and service was very inconsistent. Dishes took a long time to come out and when they finally did the steak and venison were cold. Even the oysters which just needed to be shucked and put on a plate took over 30 minutes. Some of the staff were friendly and attentive while others were disengaged and distracted. The gentleman at the entrance downstairs was exceptionally friendly and kind, and deserves special mention. Overall for a restaurant at this price point, there is room for significant improvement.

A beautiful, multi level restaurant with an art focus. The menu is classic but varied, with various caviar, oyster, seafood and meat options. Highlights for us were the lobster pie and beef Wellington. The beetroot tart was technically well curated but not especially exciting. Their soufflé was perfectly made and the chocolate mousse is both airy and rich. The restaurant itself is worth a visit for the building alone- an old building with interesting and striking art. I love the recipe pieces in the corridor. Definitely worth trying if you're visiting London and want a Mayfair dining experience, without the pretentiousness of a lot of Mayfair spots, a bit old school, with creative interior. Yet the staff were very sweet and welcoming.

We had dinner with friends on a Friday evening. The decor and the art pieces are unique(they also have a Picasso). The service is friendly, but in my opinion, we waited a bit too long between our starters and our mains (maybe also since we ordered the beef Wellington). As a dessert, we had a soufflé. Despite the long wait, it was delicious, and I can recommend it. The man down stairs is super friendly and merits a special mention. I was slightly disappointed that to go to the toilets you needed to go to the pub downstairs and there was only one toilet. For such a high-end restaurant, you expect to have bathrooms reserved only for clients.

The bread basket sums up our experience: What looked and smelled like lovely warm home made bread on the outside - turned out to still be frozen solid on the inside… the bread was swapped out after I almost lost a tooth to it - but not even an apology was offered let alone a drink. I can understand and even embrace paying premium prices for middle of the road food as long as you get the pomp and theatre expected with Mayfair dining (Annabel’s, Amazonico, etc.) but here again Mount St fell as flat as their banana soufflé… our waiter was straight out of Fawlty Towers - he refused to put our beef Wellington order through unless we ordered our starters first - despite warning of a one hour prep time - and told me to split the bill myself as he couldn’t work out how to divide £460 by two! The room felt cold because of an unaddressed draught., I could go on. What was there to like? The art - loved the almost socialist concept of hanging masterpieces up on a restaurant wall to be enjoyed as intended - if only they actually knew how to run a restaurant - they’d be onto a winner.

My husband and I had the pleasure of having lunch here. It was by far the most memorable meal we have had in quite some time. Aside from the stellar works of art, the food was absolutely wonderful. The staff were also very welcoming and it was just a great experience all around. I will certainly be coming back time and again.
