I came for dinner around 18.30 on Thursday as I was intrigued by the decor and when I checked the menu with my friend we thought that the price was quite reasonable considering the location. I ordered the Lobster Linguini. When it arrived I didn’t have any complaints as it tasted okay, although I thought the lobsters were a bit chewy (not fresh). I should’ve left the food alone as around 23.00 I was feverish and throwing up my Lobster Linguini. I didn’t believe that I would get a food poisoning from this place especially when they presented themselves as a high-end restaurant. But after reading the reviews and a couple of people complained about the meat being frozen, it all makes sense. My family owns a restaurant and I understand how tricky and risky it can be to regulate fresh meat in the kitchen and prevent contamination. However, I expect a better regulation in such a restaurant, especially when you charge a lot for service (15%) and cover charge (£2.50 per head). I’m still giving it 2 stars because our waiter was quite friendly to us. Leaving a bad review is not in my nature, but I want the owner of this restaurant to be aware of this case and improve so that this won’t happen to other customers.

Sadly after 18 years of frequenting Motcombes there has been new ownership - We took high profile clients last night and were abused by the new owner - someone with no hospitality skills at all - we stayed but sadly he is losing yet more regular clients who go all year round not just when the sun shines. - I felt sad for the regular staff who looked embarrassed by his behaviour / an unpleasant dining and social experience ! And it is costly !

Well, what can I say about this place? Came in hoping for a quiet drink, but boy, was I mistaken. I had to ask for my wine three whole times. Yes, three! It felt like I was caught in some odd loop. Then, here's the kicker. Even though I showed up before dinner time, they tried to force me into ordering food. I thought a restaurant was a place of hospitality, not a battlefield. Honestly, this was not the experience I was looking forward to. The whole vibe was rather aggressive and far from welcoming. If you're looking for a place to chill and have a peaceful time, this may not be your best bet.

AVOID!! Overpriced food and absolute disgusting behaviour of the owner. He is the rudest person I ever came across! He bullies his staff and his customers. Plain awful!

The man who served us looked up and down at us, not friendly at all. The chicken tacos had a weird fragrant-like smell to it, the shell was stale? The salt and pepper squid was chewy. After tasting starters we tried to cancel the shrimp burger, but they said we were too late and had no choice but to have it? It was literally a blob of minced shrimp. Shepard’s pie and truffle tagliatelle was nothing exciting, flavourless. It cost >£100. It was so underwhelming and disappointing.
