my brother was referred here. Utterly pointless, he has severe mental health issues, what he needs is targeted mental health treatment which will help him to understand and come to terms with his needs.

As a member you are treated with the same respect as staff and actually the members/service users work there too and are very supportive of each other. It’s clean and bright, everyone is friendly and I feel safe and happy there. It’s like a community

Where I am now: I am doing an NVQ Level 3 with St Giles Trust, this opportunity was presented at one of the regular unit meetings held at Mosaic Clubhouse. I help one evening a week in Mosaic’s out of hours service as a Peer Supporter (Peer Supporter, a person who has lived experience of mental ill health and helps others to progress from where they are to where they want to be): The Evening Sanctuary which is provided to support Lambeth residents who are on the cusp of a mental health crisis. Service hours 6pm-2am, Wed-Sun. I have recently taken part in a volunteer induction with Thames Reach and all being well will start providing support to them and their clients with Information, Advice & Guidance, conducting signposting and referrals as a Peer Advisor. – If this is realised, then I will update DWP re starting a volunteer position (it is a requirement to do so). What it took to get me there, the Mosaic Journey: I had started with Mosaic in February 2016. During this time, I made a transition to primary care (back to GP) and with that my Care-Coordinator encouraged me to join a Lambeth GP and to utilise the GP+ service. That service supports you and the GPs. You meet as and when required yet ordinary meetings take place every 2-3 months. Due to the nature of medical treatment I was on, things were challenging for me. I was at a stage where I was putting on easy clothes. Did not shave a lot. Was clean yet knew I was capable of more. Recently symptoms started to present predominantly, I recognised them and met with GP+ at Mosaic, I had an informed talk with a Psychiatrist over the telephone and found a middle ground re treatment which I am now on. Mosaic’s model is unique where the running of the Clubhouse involves both Staff (who I call the Cheerleaders, due to their encouragement) & it’s Members. Mosaic has a list of standards which are used as a bill of rights for its operation. The Support Workers (Cheerleaders) are on hand for you to talk things through with at any time. The working as colleagues together, we learn from each other and Mosaic is a good place to be. Yet you must make effort to speak up about things happening with you while at Mosaic and outside it in your time, to get help and support. Due to the nature of its co-production, everyone who is up to doing something, does something contributing to the work ordered day, it develops teamwork and the basics of feeling of having made good use of your time in the day. Early on I found I more watched others do things while doing what I felt up to doing there. Good habits I see at Mosaic I have adopted. And experiences shared with others have helped me too. One evening at The Evening Sanctuary, I helped another Member with their preparing of the dinner, which was a hearty soup. It is a good memory for me. The following day I bought a big pot, and ingredients to see if I could manage doing the meal at home. It was a success and I have named it the Evening Sanctuary soup. Mosaic allows you to get involved with all areas of its operation, with that I have over the course of the year did a bit of everything. The friendships/working relationships I have developed there, has helped strengthen me and others. My life chances have increased a great deal due to grabbing hold of the Mosaic opportunity & working with others to progress. I have more energy to iron my clothes, feel stronger physically, shave more often and I am more active. This is when I compare it to before joining Mosaic, feeling suppressed, depressed, unmotivated & lacked energy. I have purpose again and feel strong enough to take up a vision I had years ago, yet due to being unwell, it was something I had shelved. I am someone who has a diagnosis of Schizoaffective disorder. Thank you, Mosaic Clubhouse, the people there & GP+ From Mr. Kevin.
