We booked a 6 night stay at the Morecambe hotel costing £600 as a celebration for my husband's 60th birthday. On booking we never received any confirmation of our booking. On arrival at the hotel we paid £300 in cash and a further £300 by card. We received a receipt for the card payment but no receipt for the cash transaction. On asking we were told "we'll sort that for you" but still did not receive a receipt. 3 days later (on my husband's birthday) at around lunchtime, when already out on a daytrip we received a call from the hotel informing us that we were being moved to a different room as someone else was booked into the one we were in. We had to go back to pack and move. The next day on returning to the hotel after our evening meal we were met by a member of staff who told us "they needed to check our booking as we were leaving the next day"". We informed them that we had booked and paid for 6 nights NOT 5 and were asked for our confirmation which we had not received so were unable to prove our booking. The next morning at 600 am we brought our luggage down to find no one on duty and the doors locked. We called the hotel from our mobile phone but could only hear the phone ringing in the bar and left a voicemail message. Our only means of getting out was through the fire door. The food here is excellent but the beer garden and bar was too noisy due to children running round screaming while parents sat drinking, (the noise could be heard from our room) , so we went to a nearby restaurant for our evening meals. Our holiday and my husbands special day was ruined because of our stay here and has marred our memories of Morecambe. We will NOT be returning to Morecambe again.

So sad we usually love Morcambe but the place is a shambles. Dirty looking drap etc can't believe it's gone down hill do much. Lots of lay abouts around house seem to be full of scruffy people. Landlords should be made tidy their properties with paint and windows etc. So disappointed.
