FAQ

What are the qualifications and experience levels of your instructors?

Our instructors are highly qualified and experienced sailors, with certifications from recognized sailing organizations. They have years of experience teaching students of all levels, from beginners to advanced sailors. We ensure that all of our instructors have the necessary qualifications and experience to provide safe and effective instruction.

What is the student-to-instructor ratio in your classes?

We strive to maintain a low student-to-instructor ratio in all of our classes, to ensure that each student receives individual attention and instruction. Our ratio varies depending on the class and the level of instruction, but we generally aim for no more than 4-6 students per instructor.

What type of boats do you use for instruction?

We use a variety of boats for instruction, depending on the class and the level of instruction. Our fleet includes dinghies, keelboats, and catamarans, all of which are well-maintained and equipped with the necessary safety gear. We choose the appropriate boat for each class based on factors such as wind conditions, student experience levels, and the goals of the class.

What safety protocols do you have in place?

Safety is our top priority, and we have a variety of safety protocols in place to ensure that our students and instructors stay safe on the water. These include mandatory safety briefings, the use of appropriate safety gear such as lifejackets and harnesses, and close monitoring of weather conditions. We also have emergency procedures in place in case of accidents or other unforeseen events.

What is your cancellation policy for classes and what happens in case of bad weather?

If a student needs to cancel a class for any reason, we ask that they provide us with as much notice as possible. Our cancellation policy varies depending on the class and the circumstances, but we generally require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. In the event of bad weather, we may need to cancel or reschedule a class for safety reasons. We will always do our best to provide as much notice as possible, and we will work with students to reschedule the class at a convenient time.

Superb tuition with Moonfleet! If you are serious about your RYA training and qualifications, Moonfleet is the school to go to. Noel, is an highly experienced instructor, that will go thoroughly through the syllabus and make sure you learn what you need to, and more. He can easily assess your level, work on your needs and take you even further. Apart from that, students are well taken care of, and even some fun moments are organised for them. Will definitely come back to Moonfleet for further tuition. A special consideration for people outside the UK, Moonfleet is not based on the solent, but close enough, and this is a huge plus for your training and preparation.
