A very nice tea for four was enjoyed by all. Works were slightly intrusive but did not spoil a good meal experience Food & drinks: A spectacular tea for four. Very expensive considering the ingredients, but the service was excellent

Following a positive experience at the New Park Manor we decided to spend 4 nights at the Moonfleet Manor in march this year. Unfortunately this was a disappointing stay because of the restaurant service. Location - 5/5 : The hotel has quiet surroundings yet close to the main cities, great starting point for long walks and amazing view on Chesil beach. Rooms - 5/5 : We had one of the renovated rooms and it was spotless and very comfortable. Kids facilities - 5/5 : That's the real plus of the hotel, if you travel with kids you have access to a wide range access of games, movies, and a huge play area including a swimming pool. Adults facilities - 3/5 : We did not go for the treatment so it's difficult to judge but compared to the other hotel the spa offer was rather poor, only a small sauna was available alongside the swimming pool. Restaurant - 2/5 : This is was the real hit and miss. For both breakfast and diner you could wait more than 1h in order to get your food. The staff is very helpful but they are too busy, and you have to chase in order to get the menu or for them to take your order. This is not convenient with kids nor a relaxing experience. The food in itself was good but rather on the expensive side taking into account the overall service. The bar area is nice and cosy with open fires but again, you have to chase in order to get your drinks which ended up being rather annoying. Overall - 3/5 : It's a shame the restaurant was a disappointing experience, otherwise it would have been an amazing stay. Unfortunately if you are travelling with kids there's no other solution than dining at the hotel. Something management should focus on improving in my opinion.

I would recommend booking just a spa treatment rather than the package as we didn’t feel the other parts of the morning were great. We didn’t realise there would be loads of kids in the pool and sauna area, there was quite a bit of waiting around to be seen, and the lunch was disappointing, only salad options and lots of aphids on the lettuce which put us off once we realised. And £4.50 for a coffee! But the massage was amazing can’t recommend enough, and staff were really lovely. Thank you especially to the two ladies who did our spa treatments :)

Booked lunch for friends a couple of weeks before but when we got to Moonfleet Manor there was a VERY limited hot menu of two meals. Apparently the chef had walked out. There was a sandwich menu. I chose an egg mayonnaise sandwich on bloomer bread. I received brown bread from a supermarket with very little filling for £8.50. We were lead to believe dessert and coffee was free due to the situation but we were charged for this. We were not told by reception of a lack of kitchen staff when we arrived, otherwise we wouldn’t have stayed. The only good points were the fire, comfy chairs and the waiter !! Appalling lunch, I have been many times for afternoon tea but never again.
