    Very small memorial to some of the bravest people in WW2. Situated on the banks of the Thames, close to Lambeth Palce. Agents, male and female were parachuted into occupied Europe to spy organise resistance or destroy important installations. Many failed to return, often tortured and shot by the German forces.

    During the Second World War, the Special Operations Executive recruited agents, men and women, who would volunteer to operate behind enemy lines in countries occupied by the Axis. The memorial is intended to honour of all the S.O.E. Agents, some who survived the war and sadly, some who did not. Their services were above and beyond the call of duty, and this country honours their memory. This memorial is represented by the bust of one such agent, Violette Szabo. Szabo sadly did not survive the war after she was capture in a mission in occupied France, tortured and sent to a concentration camp where she was eventually executed. She was posthumously awarded the George Cross and the Croix de Guerre.
