I got the potato dumplings (gnocci). The mushrooms and dumplings were fantastic. The chips and sourdough were also the best I've had in my week travels in Scotland. I also ordered a side of broccoli, I was hoping it would be a bit lighter to cut the richness of the buttery main course. I found it even more rich than the main! Just bear in mind that everything here is very generously buttered. Vegetarian options: They have a 3 options for vegetarian main courses and plenty of vegetarian friendly sides and starters.

Stopped in for drinks after dinner thinking we’d come back the next night for food. The interior is beautiful, the staff were kind, but the drinks were a major let down. Both the Heathers Old Fashioned and the Nettle Gimlet were sickly sweet… The drinks were enough of a let down, we decided against returning for food.

My wife and I showed up just as they had stopped serving dinner. We didn't have a reservation and they got us a table. We told them we could just do drinks but they kept the kitchen open for us and the meal was amazing. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly, and presented beautifully. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. I cannot say enough good things about the experience all around!

We arrived without a reservation and were kindly allocated a table. Was an enjoyable experience but although my rib eye steak was cooked well it was not a good cut of meat and filled with sinew. For this reason I left half of it and explained why to the waiter. Was mildly surprised at the lack of effort made to somehow appease the situation in any way at all. A little disappointing.
