I really hate giving bad reviews, but I really feel like I must… if I could give no stars I would. I strongly suggest avoiding this place if you are a woman. I am a local resident, I had just returned from a long journey and discovered I was locked out of my property (due to a problem with my lock, not human error). I was desperate for the bathroom and though I wasn’t a patron, through explaining I was a local resident the staff grudgingly allowed me to use theirs. The ladies toilet was filthy: there was dried blood on the seat, a stained floor and no toilet paper. The battery on my phone was really low and I needed to be contactable for the locksmith so I asked if I could charge it somewhere. I was told if I wanted to do that I would need to buy something. That’s fine, they are a business. Unfortunately they only take cash and with less than £2 my name, I can’t afford anything from the menu. With his back to me; whilst walking away; the staff member pointed to the nearest 2 ATMs (Yeah I KNOW buddy, like I said: I live 20 meters from you) and then glared at me with arms crossed from the corner of the shop. I am clearly not welcome. I am happy to pay for service; I am not paying for that. I appreciate what I was asking for was slightly annoying, but the hostility seemed OTT. As I walked out I can only infer why there was such ill will: the place was literally filled with men. Not. One. Single. Women. I walked 2 blocks away to Dhaba@49 and was welcomed with open arms, 15min before the kitchen closed- they even offered me a phone charger! I spent £35 there just because they were so nice (and the food was amazing btw). In conclusion: I suspect Momtaz is not interested in female patrons. Perhaps I’m wrong. Happy to be so. Ultimately, regardless of gender they treated a distressed local community member (and potential patron) like trash. Manners cost nothing, Momtaz.
