The pond is not a massive haven for wildlife, but usually a few ducks to whet the appetite for the richer pickings on the wetland and heathland. At the time of writing the car park charges are voluntary; use your conscience, though it is a shame Natural England do not appear to allow flexible donations like some quangos offer.
