What’s happened to Reds True BBQ? It’s been about 12 months since my last visit and for what I paid, I’d have rather walked into Five Guys for half the price. First off for a Saturday evening at 5pm in a busy part of the City it just felt empty and had no atmosphere. The next thing I noted was the lack of the sauces on the table that made the experience something extra you don’t get elsewhere. Staff who served us were impeccable, can’t fault the times for service and how the staff were chatty and friendly. The starters we had I can’t fault which were Pig Candy and Frickles, but what followed was just not worth the price I paid. I had a Pit Tray, bland pulled pork that I could probably get from a meal at Wetherspoons, adding in the lack of the sauces to give this some different flavours was just disappointing. Between 3 of us we were given one pot of BBQ and one pot of Mayo sauces that would have struggled to fill a tea spoon. The fries that accompanied the meal were the best part. I think they need to get back to what it was as I would not return as it stands and judging by the empty tables at a peak time I feel that this is obviously being shown by the level of empty seats. There is a chain of BBQ places popping up now, one in Wakefield and one soon to be in Huddersfield and as it stands, it’s a no contest. I’ll be heading here for that true BBQ experience in future.

This was my 7th Visit to Reds. This will be my last visit too. The waiting staff were amazing, as were the frickles, that’s probably the only positive I have. The Pit Tray was tasteless. I had to ask for BBQ sauce to give the pulled pork some flavour. The pork belly was fatty. Sausage was… odd, but the fries were ok. No sauces on the table which was a huge disappointment and when asking for some sauce, the tablespoon of BBQ and Mayo in a small pot was again, disappointing. This restaurant will fail and close if the management keep doing whatever they are doing and it will be such a shame from what was once a really REALLY good BBQ place. If your cutting overheads, don’t cut the things that customers come to your place for. The sauces on the table and quality of the food need to be improved drastically before any return is even considered.

Thought should visit the last Reds restaurant left, not as good as I remember. Don’t do brisket anymore & something off with the texture of the sausage. Also don’t have all the sauces on the table that they used to. Disappointed!

Little bit disappointed with food, candied bacon had no brittle snap, more bacon with sugar. Pulled pork tasted stewed and held no barbeque flavour, belly pork again tasted braised and was just pure fat with no depth of flavour, coke was flat even after a replacement. If can get food right, custom will follow but alas , a very mediocre meal and need to raise the bar

Not the same. Sauces are no longer on the table. They have limited sauces if you ask but then charge for a tiny bit. No brisket. Baby back ribs are not the usual quality. Place was a ghost town - usually packed. To the owner/management: if you want to cut overhead, maybe start with the multitude standing around and joking. Hope you get it together, be a shame to find somewhere else to go. I always looked forward to eating at Reds- not so much anymore.
