Took a bike off the car to drop off. Chap behind asked if we were going to throw it away and asked if we could have it. I said 'sure', Council Staff said 'no, it is council property now', chap said, 'well if he puts it back on his car and gives it to be outside then that works', Council Staff 'No, he has taken it off, it belongs to the council now'. I thought that exchange lacked courtesy. Gave it to the guy to put in the shop/recycle bit. Didn't want conflict - just wanted to drop stuff off. Not polite or kind behaviour at all. Council should adapt their good practice guidelines if what the council guy said was accurate. Very disappointing.

Still has online booking in place. Very slow. Not really a suitable site - should really be a better layout like Abergavenny.

Filled car with mixed recycling including large items of scrap metal saved for a while.Went Monday, closed, my mistake, went Tuesday, closed for emptying, came back after 15 minutes still closed, drove to garden centre to turn round and park for 15 minutes, came back pulled in to read signs, closed, no where to turn round as other cars pulling in from both directions blocking road, got shouted at by attendant so drove over verge to turn round 'safely', came back weds 8.45 closed ! GAVE UP RECYCLING just causing pollution driving round! How can the place be closed Tuesday so long- day after it closes all day and 8.45 after just opening. Worst service I've had in UK or many other countries in Europe, I've been trying to recycle 30 years Monmouth and step backwards each year. No thought involved - loads of signs on closed gate you can' read because you can't park to see them, dangerous turn in - no sign to say closed you can read from Monmouth direction, could go on with my rant.... Well not got more user friendly, to book slot - some days in advance - you need to register, logon, select date (says non available?), Fill in car make, colour and registration no. Surely Reg no enough as all other websites ?! No wonder theres so much fly tipping around us. They'll probably be closed when I get there! So today 18/02/2022 Booked an appointment, closed when I get there sign says close for maintenance 60min, so come back after 2 hours still closed. Yes I understand its storm Eunice but a better sign would be good - said on website when I looked. They know my email from booking system? So yet another wasted journey. How is this helping recycling by making it difficult to get in ?
