I booked my car in with a company called The Transmission Repair Shop after speaking with and getting a quote from the owner Jake Downton. Unbeknown to me, The Transmission Repair Shop then subcontracted the gearbox replacement with another company called Mister Transmission. These guys replaced my gearbox with a reconditioned one but within 8 weeks, the car lost drive as I was driving at 70mph in the middle lane of the M20!!! I took it back to them and they plugged in their diagnostic and found a fault P1705, then cleared the fault and said see how that works. The next day, the very same issue on the M20. I then took it back to them again, they had the car for 3 days and said they didn’t know what the problem was and to get a 2nd opinion. I have emailed The Transmission Repair Shop and have had no reply to my emails. I have booked my car in with a Mercedes service centre in Ashford so they can undertake a diagnostic report and identify what the issue is and why it drops out of drive. I paid just over £3500 for a reconditioned gearbox, and I am very dissatisfied with the “take it elsewhere” attitude from a so called specialist gearbox centre, both The Transmission Repair Shop for failing to answer my emails and Mister Transmission for advising me to get a second opinion. these guys are experienced and they know what they are doing, If you have gearbox problem then you likely have researched what the job entails, give these guys a call and you'll be able to tell if they know what they're talking about or not. Ash can come across a bit of a straight talker but i guess they have a lot of canvassers on the phone but don't let that put you off. I predominantly spoke and dealt with Yusuf the owner of the business, from our conversations i could tell he knew what he was talking about and the level of customer service i received was second to none, I felt like he was looking after me as a family member. If you have a transmission problem I highly recommend this business, if you are not satisfied what you hear on the phone i would recommend all you need to do is visit their workshop and you'll understand they know transmissions. I had a problem with my Mercedes A class, DSG gearbox, they got the car back on the road with a 12 month warranty. For me, So far so good its been a week since I got the car back. I believe their pricing was fair, I would highly recommend this company if you have a gearbox issue, Please don't just go to any a garage for a specialist job like a transmission as there are many parts to a transmission and here all is undertaken under one roof. While there are other specialists out there they tend to pick and choose, This is in their own words (trust me i spoke to a handful of them) and they very quickly turn down jobs if the job has a bit of a history. With Mister Transmissions they'll take on any job without batting an eyelid - this just demonstrates to me that again they know what they're doing and no job is too big or small. for sure a company you can trust!
