We moved our 4 children to Millfield on returning to UK after a period abroad. We knew of Millfield by reputation and after visiting the school we knew this was a great fit. Our children are competitive swimmers and sailors and our eldest had been eyeing up MIllfield as a boarding option due to the excellent sailing programme via Andrew Simpson Academy and the highly regarded swim coaching and fantastic facilities. She became a full time boarder at Millfield a year prior to the family returning to UK. The sport offerings at Millfield are truly second to none, the academic programme and international language options allowed our children the flexibility to pick up on the skills they acquired abroad. We felt the balance of sports to academics was perfect. Our move back to the UK has been made utterly seamless by the ability to continue on with the swim training, sailing and academic fit we have found at Millfield. We have two boarders and two day day pupils and this works well for the younger two having sports after school, an excellent choice of clubs, full wraparound care until they depart on the reliable minibus service home. We are just hoping to keep the younger two home a little longer as the older siblings are flying the flag for boarding as the best option!

We are delighted with this school, it totally fitted the needs of our 3 children so we moved our whole family 125 miles to be able to give our children the best. The Pre-Prep is nurturing and caring but also challenging for my 6 year old son. His reading and writing has vastly improved since being there and the teacher enabled him to settle in quickly when he arrived. Forest school is a highlight of the week! He thrives in the wealth of activities and experiences offered at Millfield. The playground is brilliant for the little ones, just like being at a park! The Prep School has done wonders for my daughter’s confidence with a full and varied curriculum, with plenty of opportunities for extra-curricular activities. She’s made some great friends of day & boarding pupils and enjoys the varied outside play spaces. Our eldest son started in Year 9 in the Senior School with a brilliant kick off “9 at Millfield” programme. There are so many activities that they have an opportunity of getting involved in. You don’t have to have a sporty child to attend this School but there are so many sports on offer with professional coaching in all disciplines. The quality of the curriculum teaching is excellent, with a sense of care for the pupils. Our son is dyslexic so we had to choose his Senior School wisely, and Millfield are great at managing his needs and adapting to support him. Being a keen golfer, he’s in his element; being able to play golf everyday! The vibe of both Schools is very positive and parents definitely feel part of the Millfield community. Communication is exceptional across the Schools, with an up-to-date online parent portal and regular emails. The excellent facilities at both schools are extensive and plentiful, with swimming pools, indoor/outdoor facilities for tennis, cricket and golf. Plenty of astro turf for hockey and several football & rugby pitches with great equestrian facilities for those who enjoy riding. There are over 100 other activities for children to get involved in or just to try out. We highly recommend both Schools, but would urge you to find out for yourselves at one of the many Open Days.

Absolutely first rate pastoral care and multiple opportunities to explore wherever your child's interests take them. Not just sports but the arts too. Kind, caring, friendly and approachable teachers and staff. Good academic support and superb facilities of all kinds. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
