When we found out that our beautiful cat Roxy was terminally ill we was heartbroken. I knew that when the final day arrived I would be in no fit state to arrange anything. I came across “Mill cottage pet crematorium” as I wanted to find the right place. After a few calls to pet crematoriums I just Knew this was the right place, Theresea and Paul were so helpful. We discussed cremation (after hearing of rumours that places cremated animals together and it worried me) I wanted the person touch of someone that cares. I was relieved to hear that my beloved Roxy would be cremated alone. Theresea helped me prepare for what would enevitably be an awful time with great advice. When the day arrived I contacted Theresea, she was empathetic and responded with genuine kind words. I was able to take Roxy over in my own time. We chatted on arriving at the the cosy mill cottage crematorium, I never felt like I was in a rush to hand my little girl over. I was listened to and I could see that Theresea had a genuine understanding for what I was going through. I didn’t feel under any pressure, we took our time and chose a beautiful gold heart, before laying Roxy down in her blankets and giving our last good byes. I’d ask to be kept up to date with the cremation procedures. Theresea kept to her word and stayed in contact throughout, texting at each moment of the process, it was a helpful touch to feel included. Theresea and Paul had not only provided the lovely heart (urn) with Roxy’s name engraved, but there was a heartwarming poem, her paw prints, part of her fur and a small selection of her ashes (placed in a small bag), as I had mentioned that I think I would like some of her ashes used in the future for a painting or jewellery. Theresea and Paul were beyond helpful throughout the whole journey, they took notice of the small things, paid attention to detail, and more importantly they treated Roxy with care and dignity. It made the loss of my best friend just that little bit easier. I am truely grateful for the service they provided. Theresea and Paul are a credit to the business and go above and beyond expectations.

Sorry it's taken me a while to write this review as losing your best friend is just so hard, but it hasn't stop me passing on how fabulous Mill Cottage has been. The professionalism and service that Theresa provided was second to none. (in the past I had travelled to church Fenton with my beloved animals ) I cant thank her enough for helping me with Sheba, her compassion and patience, nothing was too much trouble. It was all a bit of a shock and happened very quickly, I hadn't actually seen the york press write up when Mill Cottage opened in August of 2022, but thanks to Google, I could not have found anywhere better for my princess to go to. I was made so welcome and actually felt like I had known Theresa for years. It is never easy to lose a pet and as it was just before Christmas i thought i would maybe have problems as veterinary practices were going into 'holiday' mode, and likewise the pet crematoriums. How wrong I was, Theresa told me to come down when I wanted and she would see me immediately on my arrival. i just felt so at ease under such difficult circumstances. Later, I was updated with texts and a phone call to say when I could bring my girl home. Mill Cottage provided an ending, so caring and dignified I can not thank them enough. From my initial contact with them, up to today, and going on, I will sing their praises to my friends and family. I wanted the best and certainly found it here !
