FAQ

What is your level of certification as a Scuba Instructor?

We are a BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) Branch 5, which means that all of our instructors are certified by BSAC as Open Water Instructors or higher.

How much experience do you have as a Scuba Instructor and where have you taught before?

Our instructors have a wealth of experience, with many of them having taught for several years in various locations around the world, such as the Caribbean, the Red Sea, and the Maldives. Some of our instructors have also trained with other agencies before becoming certified with BSAC.

What is your teaching style and approach to helping new divers learn and improve their skills?

Our teaching style is focused on safety, fun, and developing skills at a pace that is comfortable for each individual student. We believe that everyone learns differently, so we tailor our approach to suit the needs of each student. We also provide plenty of opportunities for practice and repetition, both in the pool and in open water.

What kind of equipment do you provide for your students and how often do you maintain and update it?

We provide all of the necessary scuba diving equipment for our students, including wetsuits, masks, fins, regulators, BCDs, and tanks. We also have a range of equipment available for rental for certified divers. We maintain and update our equipment regularly, following manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.

What is your policy on rescheduling or refunding lessons if weather or other circumstances prevent diving on a scheduled date?

We understand that sometimes weather or other circumstances may prevent diving on a scheduled date. In these cases, we will work with our students to reschedule their lessons at a time that is convenient for them. If rescheduling is not possible, we will provide a refund for any missed lessons. Our policy is designed to be fair and flexible, while ensuring that our students receive the best possible learning experience.

I have lived local for many years and stumbled onto the club thanks to my mum. I’ve been a member of the club since COVID restrictions lifted and I am nearing the end of my ocean diver qualification. The club is friendly and inviting and the training staff work tirelessly to help you achieve your goals. Once qualified I will carry on to do my sports diver course with the club. I have been quarry diving and have enjoyed a sea dive, the club works hard to give you as much diving experience as they can no matter what time of year it is. I would highly recommend the club to anyone looking to learn to dive or just wanting to try out a try dive.

Merseyside Sub-Aqua club does not recognise the picture of the club painted by Mr Zhukov for the following reasons: 1: All training is provided by a team of dedicated instructors to a uniform standard and monitored by a qualified Advanced Diving Instructor. 2: Unfortunately, exploring the underwater world involves getting wet and by implication is colder than on dry land. Quarries are used extensively for more advanced diver training by all the training agencies, including BSAC and PADI, as it offers a safe and more controlled environment. I would add, that in October the water temperature was between 13/15 degrees and therefore as warm as the sea. 3: Sadly I do not own a yacht, but rather a 6 meter RHIB fitted out and used exclusively for diving. It is neither a floating gin palace nor a magnet for young women, unless, of course, they are dressed in a full diving suit. 4: Interestingly, enquiries show that Mr Zhukov has never been a member of the British Sub-Aqua Club and specifically Merseyside Sub-Aqua Club. We would, however, be prepared to meet this individual to discuss his concerns should he decide to reveal his true identity.

My friend and I were both members of this club. Week after week we had different instructors who all taught things differently. After spending thousands of pounds on new equipment they plunged us from a warm swimming pool into an October freezing quarry. It is an utter disgrace. The main man who is a pensioner is in charge and he has his own yacht but you have to be a young female to get on it. You see people just arriving and being given everything because the boss wants the teen girls on his boat trips. PLEASE GO TO A WORLD RECOGNISED QUALIFICATION LIKE PADIBsac is garbage and burocratic.

If you want to learn to dive, or you are already certified and want to do more diving in the Liverpool area then this is the club to join. Plenty of opportunities to dive and progress within the club under the guidance of great instructors or extremely enthusiastic and passionate members. There is a real friendly atmosphere about the place and a whole host of not so wet activities. A brilliant club!
