I wouldn't go here to eat as a walk in, even during the week when the pub is empty during school hours. As soon as I walked in, I was asked if I had pre-booked (which I found very strange for 11:45 on a Tuesday morning and the pub is empty) Because we hadn't pre-booked, we were told we couldn't have table service and to order at the bar. (This is the second time in a row this has happened) We were the first group in the whole pub, and out food took over half an hour to come and came AFTER the pre-booked tables. Let me explain that this was not one large group pre-booking, but 3/4 separate pre-bookings, tables of 2-4 One of our meals was undercooked, slimy and greasy. Were promised a refund and that someone would come to the table to do it shortly. One was missing additional naan bread. The naan bread was eventually retrieved halfway through my dinner, after queuing back up for ages and being ignored again for other walk-ins coming in. One of us ordered a diet coke, was given full sugar coke (bottled) and one member of staff told the one serving to put the lid back on and put it back?!?! As the refund wasn't coming to the table, I went to the bar and was told that I should have come to the bar for a refund. We were offered a dessert to say sorry for the bad meal. Which would have been very nice if it didn't take the chef over half an hour to put profiteroles and brownies on a plate. Took 2 and half hours to eat and leave, on a quiet day, just because the place is understaffed. Instead of just telling us that so we had the option, we felt tricked into paying over 40 pounds for a careless service. Wouldn't mind as much, but half of the food is clearly microwaved and/or heated from frozen anyway. What was the wait for? Empty pub and not even cooking from fresh there and then. We were not the only ones unhappy, but definitely the only ones that were not just unhappy, weren't offered a refund, apology or explanation. And definitely the only group who had been left there for 2 and a half hours in total. First ones in, last ones out. I appreciate the actually inedible meal was refunded, but nothing was done about the fact we had been treated so poorly. Will not be back anytime soon.
