    A very interesting centrepiece for Meriden, the old stone cross on the Green. There is some distant history on this place. You can imagine carriages going by 500 years ago. The Green is a great place to enjoy some of the food on offer by a number of takeaway shops. There’s also a Coop.

    Very pleasant green as near as one can get to the traditional centre of England. There are a few shops just by the green where, by the way, there are a number of benches where one can rest for a while and observe the village comings and goings. Amongst the shops is a small, efficient supermarket, a chemist, a place for ice-creams and a great fish and chip shop. Meriden village also has some pubs. About half a mile up the road on the way to Coventry is The Queens Head. A traditional English pub that is well worth a visit!
