Last year was one of the hardest times of my life, I did not recognise the person I was becoming. I have always been so upbeat, glass is half full sort of person and smiling all the time but now I did not know who I was, what I wanted or what was wrong with me. I was crying, angry, short tempered, anxious and having panic attacks and generally feeling so low that I had had enough. This had a knock-on effect to my family and work life, although I did try and hide it. So, for the first time in my life, I reached out to a therapist and her name was Simona Stokes. I do not even think I can find the words to explain how Simona has helped me and how the tools that she taught me are still helping me now 6 months after my last meeting with her. I was worried at first how I was going to talk to a stranger let alone knowing what I needed to talk about. Simona has this way of making you feel relaxed and before I knew it...around 15 minutes into my first session I was crying and letting some of my feelings out that had been bottled up for not only the past year but stuff that had been buried for years. Simone recognised some of the symptoms I had was brought on by me being premenopausal and advised I spoke to my doctor and trading my anti-depressants in and try HRT instead. Best thing I ever did as having some HRT has completely changed my moods. This, along with knowing someone was there for just me and knowing I could talk through my thoughts and feelings has brought me back to the person I once was. Please do not think you need to go through some horrific accident or incident to allow you to find the help that you need. Get help, I did, and I will never let myself try and handle things alone again.
