Great place to visit. Gardens professionally maintained with many vistas. This picture is part of the Millrace. Included is a small area with sheep and goats, ponies, and characterful pigs that appreciate attention. Children can spend time here. *Attention to the threshold at the kiosk needs levelling for wheelchairs . This really is a must.* Otherwise, it is highly recommended.

The gardens inside the wall are stunning at this time of year. You get the traditional vistas across the lawns towards the historic bird cage pergola. Multiple views led down hedges laid out in the French style and more recent planting of younger trees under planted with a delicate meadow. The best part is the water garden with different colour combinations lining each stream. Outside is one of the most stunning lakes I’ve seen and a micro brewery in a courtyard along with a wine shop and antiques. What’s not to love? Cafe was closed when I went as was half of the village! The garden is free for RHS and does Gardener’s World 241. If you love gardens it’s definitely worth a visit.

On a short break in South Derbyshire we visited the gardens on a Saturday afternoon. A lovely walk around the gardens and The Pool, adjacent to the gardens. Our visit was enhanced by a self-elected local tour guide who pointed out all the shpes in the topiary and how to get into the grounds without paying! A most enjoyable afternoon but please use the proper entrance.
