FAQ

What is your approach to family therapy?

At Medway Talking Therapies, we take a systemic approach to family therapy. This means that we view families as a whole system, where each member is interconnected and affects the others. We work to identify patterns of behavior, communication, and relationships within the family and help them to make positive changes to improve their overall functioning and well-being.

What kind of certifications do your counselors have?

Our counselors at Medway Talking Therapies are highly qualified and have a range of certifications and qualifications in their respective fields. Some of our counselors are qualified psychotherapists, some are family therapists, and others are child psychologists. All of our counselors have the necessary certifications and accreditations to practice in the UK.

What is your success rate in resolving family conflicts?

At Medway Talking Therapies, we believe that every family and situation is unique, and therefore, we cannot guarantee a specific success rate. However, we are committed to providing evidence-based therapy that is tailored to the specific needs of each family. We have many success stories and are dedicated to helping families work through their conflicts and improve their relationships.

How do you ensure client confidentiality?

At Medway Talking Therapies, we take client confidentiality very seriously. We follow strict guidelines and ethical standards set out by our governing bodies, including the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). We also have robust policies in place to ensure the security of our clients' personal information.

What is your approach to counseling and how do you tailor it to each client's needs?

At Medway Talking Therapies, we use an integrative approach to counseling, which means that we draw on a range of therapeutic techniques and theories to create a personalized treatment plan for each client. We work collaboratively with our clients to identify their individual needs, goals, and preferences and tailor our approach accordingly. Our aim is to provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and work towards positive change.

To those that are going through difficult times, please do not hesitate to contact Talking Therapies. At first I believed to be depressive, which I was. Daniel Small, my therapist, not only pulled me out of the depressive mood, but most importantly identified the condition that was causing it. Through his true interest in providing quality patient care, I finally became aware of having ADHD. After having been followed by various psychologists and some consultations with psychiatrists, since the age of 7, Daniel Small was the first one to have the patience and attentiveness to effectively decode what I tried to convey. From the start, he identified my struggles in expressing myself, and provided me tools to assist me in that regard. I have now been fully diagnosed with ADHD by a Psychiatrist, started treatment and have achieved the emotional and mental stability I have longed-for.

The CBT sessions were helpful, and the lady who I spoke to was kind and helped me through specific issues and strategies. I cannot fault her. The problem with mental health services in general, as well as this one, is that if you have complex or multiple issues, you cannot see more than one person, and there is a 'cooling off' period of 10 weeks before you can re-refer to be put back on the waiting list. There was an initial wait of two months before I could start therapy, and then a maximum of 5 sessions of 30 minutes after an an initial triage appointment. This isn't enough for more complex needs. I have completed all my sessions, and feel equipped to tackle my issues, but not confident that help will be there when I need it as I have by no means 'fixed' or 'solved' any of the underlying issues.

Vile. They don't listen and they don't care. I was told I could have CBT which they know didnt work for me so what would be the point so I could pay for theropy or go on the mind website. I have been referred by my GP and thats what I got. Horrendous poorly trained and ill qualified. I'm sitting here crying and freaking out after my experience, no kindness or support at all. Vile and avoid if you don't want to be sent over the edge.
