Latest review 2022 Since my original review, the doors have been a great addition to the property, with lots of positive comments. We did have an issue with one bi-fold locking mechanism, but that was nothing to do with Medina, instead the lock needed adjusting. James from Medina kindly made the long journey over to the house and rectified the issue. Hence my increase in stars from 3 to 4. Original review 2021 Excellent product (5 stars), good price (4 stars).... sadly dreadful installation service (1 star); hence my 3 star review. The windows and doors were poorly implemented, unpainted areas (top and bottom of doors), locks incorrectly installed, minor paint chips, missing fixing screws and a total disregard towards the client (me) and my property. Awful attitude, foul language, finger pointing, I can go on. The windows and doors arrived late, not even an apology, which put the remaining build behind schedule. The font door didn't even make it. Upon arrival of the subsequent snagging visit they threatened to remove the windows and doors due to my comprehensive list of issues, to be addressed. Not all of the snags have been rectified. In conclusion I have a beautiful pair of bistro style bi-folds (dining and kitchen), casement doors (patio) kitchen and utility windows, but not sure if my warranty will stand up.

I ordered a series of bespoke garden doors. One bi-folding, one French and one fixed (i.e. not openable). First I asked to see samples of such doors either at the workshop or wherever already installed. That was not an option. After much thinking, talking and looking at pictures, I decided to proceed, as it seemed that the specs matched my needs. Sadly, when the doors turned-up, I discovered in horror that they had black gaskets all around, making them look more like PVC rather than bespoke. Right the opposite of what I needed. James (after all, this is a one man band operation, I discovered later) thought that that was not a problem as I could have replaced the gaskets with mastic. Except, I didn't want to do that and risk compromising the water-proofing. So, I took the PVC-looking doors and went on with them. The second thing that I noticed is that the colour was slightly off our kitchen's. We had requested a specific paint and colour to match our kitchen, internally, but James shrugging his shoulder told us THEN (and not before) that he had matched the paint we had given, with another paint of his choice. Great idea: now we have doors' colour that is slightly different from the kitchen colour, thank you. The third thing I discovered is that there was some bubbling of paint in some areas, and that needed to be rectified. I mentioned this to James and, at this point unsurprisingly, my complaint was met with a shrugging shoulder attitude, like saying: "what's the big deal?". The big deal is that I spent thousand of pounds in bespoke doors that looked amateurish. Eventually, James agreed to take off £200 from the total price (£200 was ~2% of the total paid). The fourth thing that I discovered is that the wood was not perfectly smooth as one would expect but had "mini scars (cuts)" all over. This is not something very obvious but with light hitting at certain angles it is definitely noticeable. By now you'll guess what James response was (i.e. another shoulder shrugging session). Fifth: the sliding mechanism is cheap and not up to standard. I now am dealing with one of the hinges snapping out of the sliding part, creating all sort of issues. Also key locks were incorrect, but at least in this instance James sent the correct locks swiftly. Finally -- dulcis in fundo -- 2 yeas in, the external paint started bubbling and cracks appearing on the wood. After mentioning this to James (and having no hope for a remotely useful response) he unsurprisingly came-up with the notion that his Ts&Cs (never shared with us before that point) stated a 2 years warranty. What a coincidence... I had a local tradesman looking at the bubbling/cracking problem and he immediately noticed that the infamous gaskets leave holes when the vertical and the horizontal ones should meet (but don't). Those holes are a perfect entry-point for water, which -- through gravity -- goes down in the internal cavity and causes the aforementioned issues. Overall, therefore, this was a very poorly executed job and charged at an exceptionally high price for the quality. I should add that I had other bespoke external doors and windows installed in my house, so I am not a complete newbie. They have no ugly black gaskets but a white mastic. Inside the double glazing they have a white profile too, so that there is no cheap-PVC effect. But, most importantly, the wood is perfectly smooth, the paint is exactly the one I requested and external conditions are still perfect after several years. James had also pitched for a roof lantern that I needed. Thank the Lord I did not fall for that one and went with a specialist firm that did a sterling job and I now have a showroom-like roof lantern. So, my advice to anybody who may be considering this firm is that it all depends on your expectations. If you are ok with whatever comes, then by all means do business here. If, however, you want true quality and somebody on the other side who cares about you, then stay away and look elsewhere. Rating: Attitude --> Negative 1 star; Products --> 2 stars.

James and team have provided all our doors and windows over the last few years as we’ve carried out a sensitive refurb of our listed property. I can’t fault the quality of workmanship; several years on and all the doors are all completely true, no splits, warps or any other issues. We’ve had the odd misunderstanding on a few details but James has always done the right thing and sorted it out for us with a professional and friendly manner. I wouldn’t hesitate to use James and team again for any further work - Medina produces a quality product which is good value.

Absolutely delighted with my solid wood bifolding garage doors from Medina Joinery. James at Medina designed the doors to my outline specifications and made several revisions as I changed my mind. I was able to choose colour, style, door configuration, hardware etc. James liaised with my builder to ensure everything worked perfectly from dimensioning and delivery through installation (including additional paint can). The resulting doors are absolutely gorgeous and of the highest quality. They open and close so easily and smoothly and greatly improve the frontage to my house. Pricewise the doors were on a par with quotes I received for aluminium doors but 20% cheaper than wooden doors from 2 other companies. I cannot recommend Medina Joinery highly enough for the quality of their workmanship and the friendly and efficient customer support throughout the process

Our windows and roof light came with many of the wrong specifications. Despite this we were met with an attitude that it doesn’t matter (they agreed that the items didn’t conform though!) and an overt threat to ruin our schedule if we sought things to be rectified. More and more problems have emerged. Water is coming in through the bifold doors. Most recently it has become apparent that what was meant to be aluminium coping is wood and after 6 months the paint is coming away. We understand from the installer that the other installation they did for this company was also plagued with mistakes. Mistakes happen but when complaints are dismissed and met by threats that is unforgivable. If you want any quality and integrity then in my opinion you really should avoid the company.
