While the room is cheap and all bills come with rent, it seems that security, basic maintenance and staff communication doesn't seem to be included. I'll begin with my personal experience: There is a fire door that divides our flats. This door is not alarmed nor is it protected against non-emergency uses. As a result, this creates a security risks as I don't know who's going in and out of my room. I've seen numerous people go in and out of my flat through that door and when I bring it up to maintenance, nothing happens. Lack of communication is a reoccurring event here. The rooms are not soundproof. I can hear yelling from next door and outside which makes it unsuitable for studying. These accommodations are made for students and it's difficult for us to study or get sleep for that matter. The ventilation in the bathroom is really bad. Mould does build up on the door from the humidity of the shower. I have had cigarette smoke come through my vent every so often. The showers are a gamble. One minute you're freezing, the next, you're being scalded without changing the temperature yourself. Now I want to talk on behalf of a student: Whilst dealing with the stress of uni, they wanted to get their booking for next year confirmed as soon as the listing goes up. They spoke to a receptionist and she said they'd make the reservation for them. Thinking that she'd help, they thought the stress of housing was behind them. Fast forward a few days before their deadline and they'd checked the portal. The receptionist never did it. They gave their name. Showed her the room they were currently in and still did nothing. This is an international student and now they don't have a room for next year due to lack of communication. We are students. We should only stress about out studies. Not our housing. Mcmillan advertises as an accommodation that allows students to feel at ease about their living situation but it doesn't feel that way. TL;DR Room is bad and student voice doesn't exist here.

Very bad customer service. I have been living here for the past 4 years and I have nothing good to say except that at least there is a reception that receives packages. Otherwise some staff are extremely rude, they never help you with your issues and always say “I will look into that” or “I will sent an email/fill a form”. Some other staff are very kind but usually they do not work as many hours as the others. I will give you an example. Since September 2021 the water in my shower has been going from boiling hot to normal tempature every 1 to 5 minutes. I am still living here and the issue has not been resolved. It is truly disappointing. The only reason I am in McMillan is because I like having my own bathroom otherwise I would have left one week after I moved here. Horrible place I don’t recommend

I really don’t recommend this place. Not even for freshers. I dont think the quality of the rooms is worth the money and personally people are extremely loud here and the smell of weed is very strong sometimes. So not a very nice experience
