  I have nothing but positive things to say at the moment with regards to my experience at Mulberry Park. My house was completed on time, despite numerous issues occurring because of COVID. Val has been absolutely fantastic throughout my whole process - she is honest, trustworthy and kept me updated throughout the whole process. I am extremely grateful that she is the sales woman here at Mulberry Park as she is a credit to McDermott Homes. I am 3 weeks into being in my home now and I love it more every day! Naturally when you move in to a new build home there are snags, and I have recently sent off my snag list but I’m confident that everything will be rectified as it is mostly cosmetic things, e.g a poor paint job or plastering around plugs that needs tidying up etc. The assistant site manager, Matt, has been absolutely unreal and is extremely helpful. He is busy 24/7 but I have never waited more than a few days to have something immediate tended to (e.g I did not have bark at the front of my house, told Matt, a few days later I have bark), and he has done some things for me off his own back. He told me to pester him if I need something because he is very busy, and this I do! But I am comfortable doing so and he has been nothing but helpful to me. I will keep updated with my snags and how they are dealt with, but I am an individual who understands the current climate we are living in and am not the type of person to ruin a persons day if a small chip in my skirting board is not rectified in 24 hours. I very much appreciate that our homes cost a lot of money, but over all the houses are beautiful and I do not regret my move, and hopefully never do!

  Mulberry park, Kirkby. Spent nearly quarter of a million pound on a house for our 12 house street to be the main rat run from Tower Hill to Northwood! They never told the residents that they would be building a pathway at the end of the street which leads straight off the iron bridge. They said one K barrier would be installed much further down St Kevin's drive, but failed to mention there would also be one put at the bottom of our road. Had I known this, I would never in a million years have moved here, neither would most of our neighbours. We were lied to by Mc Dermott and we are contacting solicitors to try to sort this out. This road felt very safe for 3 months, as there is no through traffic due to it being a close, but the temporary barriers at the end of the street have been damaged by scally rats and not replaced by Mc Dermott and now there are a constant stream of North face rats coming down the road, knocking into cars with bikes and scooters. Even women with prams and whole families walk down the middle of the road onto the mud just to get through the hole in the barrier to cut that precious 30 seconds off their journey, rather than use the proper path in the next street! I'm starting to hate it here already, I wish we hadn't bothered. Still waiting for the soft close toilet seat we paid extra for, 4 months into living here! Still waiting for the 10 inch gap under the garden fence to be sorted. I've done most of the snags myself, because I know it'll be done properly and not have to wait months for someone to do another botched job. Val the sales woman is great and tries her best to sort things out for you but she faces an uphill battle with the higher ups to get anything done. Matt the assistant site manager is hit and miss because he's too busy with other things so often you get forgotten about unless you hassle him, which we don't like to do.

  Having lived on the Meadow gate estate for a number of months, I am able to give an informed and sadly honest review of my experiences with McDermott Homes. Our experiences of McDermott Homes - Sales Process - Not the best, the previous sales person basically told us a load rubbish. Didn’t give the options to choose certain parts of our property, we didn’t actually see it till they handed over the keys. Updates on the build process where few and far apart (if at all), it was pre-covid so in order to get update we actually had to come to site as the Sales women didn’t answer emails or calls most of the time. When we did get an update, it didn't seem to match what we could see of the property from the road. Fortunately, she’s not there any longer and since been replaced with a guy who is so much better. Customer / After Care - Completely useless, the customer care team just send emails to the site who eventually get round to addressing issues. Sometimes they respond, sometimes they don’t. They certainly have an immature defect and complaints management process in place. Head Office - Communication with their customers is minimal, they are more focused on profit rather than customer care. Site Cleanliness and Maintenance - No maintenance service or management company is in place on site as they are still building. The responsibility seems to fall to McDermott Homes which means the basic issues take months and months to resolve (if at all). No one seems to be responsible to actively clear rubbish which has blown off site or for keeping the estate to a general level of cleanliness. At the present we are living in 24/7 mud directly outside of our property although we have asked McDermott Homes to address the problem for months, emailed for updates on a regular basis, nothing happens. No response to my emails, it’s like living on a farm yard not a residential estate which is damaging our property and generally not place where your children can play out at unless you they like to make mud pies. Site Staff and Contractors- Always friendly, often go the extra mile to help out when they are actually told there are issues they need to address. The actual property - Seems well built, no major defects to date. Mainly minor issues such as imperfections in the plaster work and poor finishes. Would I recommend them? On overall experience - Not at all, I have never dealt with any organisation which treats their customers who have spent a considerable amount of money with them with such disregard. They have a lot of work to do on customer services and after sale care before I could rate them anything more than 1 star.

  Great quality and finish on the house, Val Wilcox helped our move go as smoothly as possible, and became a good friend. After 6 months I’d now advise anyone to avoid Mcdermotts at all costs!! The “after sales” service is disgusting and I’ve had to contact both NHBC and consumer code because Mcdermotts will not rectify faults! They take your money and run and trying to get any sort of fault fixed is a nightmare. The site is left filthy and full of potholes, pathways that can’t be walked on and poor street lighting. It’s everyone’s fault but Mcdermotts! Get a grip and look after the customers who have paid good money for your houses or people will get onto you really quickly! Customer service may as well be sales prevention, site staff make all sorts of promises but never live up to them! 28 day snag list still not completed after the 6 months! Update after 18 months, list of snags still not done!! Further snags have occurred and they have not been rectified either. This is common across the whole site, and is not just me having a go at McDermotts. Feel free to knock on anyone’s door and they will tell you the same and worse!!

  Cannot thank Val enough for all the help and effort she put in to help us buy our 1st home. We was moved in quicker than we thought and always kept up to date through the whole process. Really enjoying our home and neighbours are really friendly! Obviously have a few snags but wouldn't be normal if not with a new build. Would definitely recommend McDermott homes and McDermott are very luckily to have Val! X

  We have just bought our new home on the Mulberry Park Estate in Kirkby, Val always under promised and over delivered, our house was available earlier than we had thought it would be due to lockdown but everyone at McDermott homes worked tirelessly to ensure we got in as quickly and safely as possible. After looking at lots of developments in the area McDermott stand out a mile for finish and quality of the build, I cannot recommend Val highly enough, her knowledge and attention to detail is second to none. We are looking forward to the next chapter in our lives and many happy years at Mulberry Park.
