FAQ

What are the specific services offered by your community health centre?

At Mayfield Medical Centre, we offer a range of services including general check-ups, immunizations, family planning, mental health support, chronic disease management, and minor surgical procedures. We also have access to allied health services such as physiotherapy and dietetics.

Can you provide some examples of successful treatments you have provided for similar conditions?

We have had many successful treatments for various conditions, including managing diabetes through lifestyle changes and medication, treating depression and anxiety through therapy and medication, and providing minor surgical procedures for skin conditions such as moles and cysts. Our experienced doctors work with patients to develop individualized treatment plans for their specific needs.

Are there any out-of-pocket expenses for patients or is the practice bulk-billed?

Our practice is a bulk-billing practice, which means that patients with a valid Medicare card will not have any out-of-pocket expenses for most services. However, there may be some additional fees for certain procedures or services, such as vaccinations that are not covered by Medicare.

How long does it take for orders to be processed and shipped?

As a community health centre, we do not typically process or ship orders. If a patient requires medication or medical supplies, our doctors will provide a prescription that can be filled at a local pharmacy or provide information about where to obtain necessary supplies. The time it takes to receive these supplies will depend on the individual pharmacy or supplier.

Are there any additional resources or programs available at your community health centre, such as health education or social services?

Yes, we offer a range of additional resources and programs to support our patients' health and wellbeing. This includes health education sessions on topics such as diabetes management, mental health support groups, and access to social services such as housing and financial support. Our team can also connect patients with external services and resources if needed.

The service when the E-consult was working was great but seems ridiculous that when its off you cant contact your Dr's at all is silly. What's the point of the surgery if it doesn't see patients? Unfortunately I've been with them for 25 years ( never seen the same Dr twice ) I'm in the process of switching.

Some doctors are great the ones I have seen and nurses too , but the world health organisation WHO has said covid no longer a threat , so no need for doors to be locked anymore , no need to distance chairs , need to get back to normal as other doctors surgery’s have a long time ago the elderly I think are suffering because they fear going to this drs with too much protocol going on , hope they get back to reality and help the sick people and make sure elderly are welcomed here as all patients , locking the door is not a good way to welcome sick people, also may I add keep your e consult open as most of the time it’s shut down start giving more access to people that need to consult a dr by phone or e consult should not be shut down over weekends or bank holidays

I was going on holiday and from past experiences I knew I had a chest infection.I couldn't make an appt over the phone so did 2 e.consults which resulted in Parmacy referrals.I wasn't asked to do a sputum test or offered an appt. The girls in the pharmacy were talking to me through the screens so the people waiting could hear it all. Exceptionally rude and patronising. Thanks to Mary on the phone and Andrew I had the prescription I needed. Thanks to Andrew, senior pharmacist I believe who made it possible for me to have the antibiotics I needed.

Interested to know, why Mayfield still have their doors locked? No admittance unless you have an appointment with a nurse. It appears no GP appointments occur since Covid! Useless practice, useless pharmacy. If I could give 0 stars I would

I’m sure the staff are working as hard as they can and I understand the pressures of sickness etc at this time of year. However, I’ve been trying all week to get an appointment to get someone to look at a lump that’s causing concern and the online booking system is SWITCHED OFF when GPs have reached a certain limit of messages. This morning it was done by 8.14am. When you ring the surgery you are told that you must try the online system again the next morning, there is no facility to try to get a message thru by phone. You cannot be triaged if you can’t actually get through to tell them what the problem is. I am changing surgery. Sad, because the doctor I dealt with a couple of months ago was great. SO sad what the government (and successive governments) have done to our NHS. Staff are still brilliant and I feel really sorry to be complaining but I’m at a loss as to know what to do.
